    Great mashup!

  • Wow - I had no idea Eddie Murphy used this phrase so damn much. The mini-montage from "Showgirls" was awesome, though.

Posted by: Edith at January 27, 2011 12:16 PM

    This is beautiful.

Posted by: InfluentialInfluenza at January 27, 2011 12:23 PM

I know it's off topic because HH does film mash-ups, not TV, but the "It's Showtime!" from Arrested Development is the best of all time.

Posted by: Caspar at January 27, 2011 12:27 PM

That was great! I was getting a little worried when it was getting near the end and I had not seen Gomez Addams yet, but then there it was!

Posted by: jmd at January 27, 2011 12:27 PM

Now I shall be forced to use the phrase for the rest of the week upon embarking on any sort of adventure.

    Writing a form letter - "It's showtime!"
    Changing diapers - "It's showtime!"
    Making a bank deposit - "It's showtime!"
Engaging in romantic behaviour - "It's Showtime!"
Engaging in romantic behaviour by myself - "It's showtime!" - followed by an hour of crying.

Posted by: admin at January 27, 2011 12:39 PM

Ah, shit Caspar. I would have used that if I'd known about it!. I use a search engine to find all the quotes (which also includes TV shows) but it wasn't included in the listings. Stupid stupid search engine!! This is just as bad as when I left out Kruge's 'GET OUT OF THERE', the greatest one of them all.

Which character said it, and do you have any idea what episode it was? Youtube shows no results, and I really want to see it now!

Posted by: hh at January 27, 2011 12:43 PM

It's like the last or second to last episode of AD, when they're all talking in Premium Cable puns. . .SO HELPFUL!

Posted by: coveredinbees at January 27, 2011 1:16 PM

there is no art, there is only HH. how does he do this?

Posted by: idleprimate at January 27, 2011 1:52 PM

I haven't watched it yet, but I love that it starts with a House of 1000 Corpses clip. Long live hh!

    Posted by: The_wakeful at January 27, 2011 2:14 PM

Terrific job as always from HH. EXCELLENT work!

I'd love to see supercuts of either "*pratfall* I'm okay!" or "Thanks for the drink."

Posted by: Burbanked at January 27, 2011 2:14 PM

Wonderful, as always! But one of the creepiest line deliveries of "Showtime" I've ever heard comes from Bamboozled.

Posted by: DontStopNow at January 27, 2011 3:07 PM

Awesome, as always, hh. You rule.

And Edith, I thought the exact same thing re: Eddie Murphy.

Posted by: prairiegirl at January 27, 2011 4:00 PM

Alright, you know what I want? A Harry Harnahan video montage of TV and Movie characters saying "I cut myself shaving" when asked how they got beat up/shot/stabbed/gnawed on by an alien.

Is that too much to ask?

Posted by: TheUpsetter at January 27, 2011 7:19 PM

hh, Hulu has that Arrested Development ep up right now -- it's S.O.B.s (season 3, ep. 9), said by George Bluth, Sr. The joke set-up starts about 6:30 in on Hulu.

Posted by: jgs at January 27, 2011 7:49 PM

I just saw Black Dynamite for the first time this week, and I just about died trying to keep my laughs quiet at 2am.

    Good times, HH.

Posted by: Jelinas at January 27, 2011 7:53 PM

    Stand out piece again, hh.
I don't know how you do it either, but keep them coming!
Was anyone else struck at how the word showtime slowly morphed into something that almost sounded foreign?
    Or am I high?

Posted by: Yodel at January 27, 2011 7:56 PM

Yodel-ay-hee-hoo hit the nail on the head. That word has no meaning now.

    SHOWTIME!

Posted by: mswas at January 27, 2011 8:54 PM

Thanks jgs. I can't watch Hulu as I'm in the UK but now that I know the episode (and time) I can dust off my dvds!

And for those keeping score, youtube commentators have kindly reminded me that I'm also missing a really big 'Showtime' from 'The Mask' too.

Posted by: hh at January 27, 2011 9:02 PM

I love how Arnie ALWAYS shows up on these videos.

And it's another case of a word completely losing all meaning from repetition. Loved it.

Posted by: Figgy at January 27, 2011 11:17 PM

About halfway the word 'showtime' started sounding German, for some reason. Weird.

    But, awesome work!

Posted by: Matthijs at January 28, 2011 3:06 AM

Another great HH video. However... I'm like 99% percent sure in the Grinch he doesn't say showtime... I'm pretty sure he says "Chow time."

Posted by: Ryan at January 28, 2011 4:33 AM

Goddamn fucking shit cunting Internet at work not allowing videos!

Goddamn fucking shit cunting lack of Internet at home!

Must go to a friend's house and watch this.

    As for this:

    'Writing a form letter - "It's showtime!"
    Changing diapers - "It's showtime!"
    Making a bank deposit - "It's showtime!"
Engaging in romantic behaviour - "It's Showtime!"
Engaging in romantic behaviour by myself - "It's showtime!" - followed by an hour of crying.

Posted by: admin at January 27, 2011 12:39 PM'

May I add 'taking a dump' to that list?

Posted by: zeke the pig at January 28, 2011 4:35 AM

Now that word sounds so weird to me. Thanks.

    Posted by: E-Money at January 28, 2011 7:35 AM

Yup, the word definitely loses meaning about halfway through.

Works with lots of words. Repeat "toboggan" 50 times or so, and tell me that's a real word. Not even close.

Posted by: JohnnyBee at January 28, 2011 9:21 AM

Yeah, Harry, I don't know if it would work in a quick-fire segment, because the extraordinarily brilliant joke comes in the context of them beefing up Arrested Development in order to attract other networks, including Showtime. That probably wouldn't come across.

Posted by: Caspar at January 28, 2011 11:08 AM

Less than a minute into the video and "It's Showtime!" suddenly lost all meaning and became a meaningless series of syllables.

Posted by: BWeaves at January 28, 2011 11:51 AM

Seriously though Harry, you need to get on "Cinema’s Top Heroes" like yesterday.

Say it with me: Indiana Jones theme. There you go.
