Nicolas Cage Losing His Sh*t

By Harry Hanrahan | Posted Under Guides | Comments (47)

cagecrazy1sm.jpg

The best video editor in the business, Harry Hanrahan, is back with another video edit, this one an inspired take on Nicolas Cage’s descent into madness. For all the sins that Nic Cage has committed during his career, there’s still nothing better than Crazy Cage. The man loses his shit better than any actor around, and Harry’s latest offers ample evidence to support that notion.

You thought his “Not the Bees” moment from The Wicker Man was crazy? In this video edit, it’s one of his milder moments.

You can pack a lot of crazy in four minutes, folks.

(Hat Tip to Smokey for the inspiration)

I can't watch the video at work, grrrr, but I sincerely hope it includes the scene with him wearing a bear costume and punching a chick in the face. Or, you know, pretty much any scene from "Wicker Man."

"How did it burn? how did it burn. HOW DID IT BURN??? HOWDIDITBURNHOWDIDITBURN?"

Posted by: Dingles at November 22, 2010 2:28 PM

The only guy to constantly earn my dinero at the box office.

greatest actor of our time. fuck daniel daPr

Posted by: Brian at November 22, 2010 2:28 PM

    Holy. Shit.

Talk about complete fucking off the chain, batshit unhinged...that's good ol' Nic.

Little known fact: most of these scenes were filmed by Cage's personal assistant on his cell phone after Nic's accountant gave him the recent bad news about his finances.

Also, was it completely wrong of me to have laughed--nay, chortled...nay, GUFFAWED--my way through that entire compilation? Does that say something sinister about my moral fiber?

Posted by: AngelheadHipster at November 22, 2010 2:33 PM

It's like hilarious and mesmerising all at once.

Posted by: wugirl at November 22, 2010 2:36 PM

so this was, like, a commercial he did?

    voiceover:

"Kicking Horse Coffee, It Just Doesn't get Any Stronger"

Posted by: twig at November 22, 2010 3:07 PM

It's an excellently edited compilation, but I would have expected Harry to use something other than Clint Mansell's Requiem for a Dream theme.

It's the soundtrack to a myriad other YouTube videos.

Posted by: Simon at November 22, 2010 3:11 PM

    that was fantastic.

i thought the requiem for a dream music was perfect.

Posted by: stopthemadness at November 22, 2010 3:17 PM

Bravissimo, Literally the best thing I have ever seen in my life.

Posted by: Frankie Ballz at November 22, 2010 3:18 PM

So I'm out of the country for awhile...got back yesterday and return to Pajiba to find Cage Unhinged. Awesome ... and scary ... and compelling ... and slightly disturbing.

I read that he had three DOZEN bronze wall sconces cast from a mold of his arm in his recently sold home. I bet he lost his shit when those went with the foreclosure sale. "No! Not the Arms! NOT THE ARMS!!!"

Posted by: Smokey at November 22, 2010 3:19 PM

    That's good crazy.

Posted by: admin at November 22, 2010 3:26 PM

So you're saying I need to see The Vampire's Kiss as soon as possible? Very well then.

I also have my Halloween costume for next year. I'm just going to run down the street in a suit screaming "I'm a vampire I'm a vampire I'm a vampire I'm a vampire I'm a vampire..." until my vocal cords bleed or I'm arrested. Perfect.

Posted by: Robert at November 22, 2010 3:57 PM

Thank you for this. I have been trying to convince people to see A Vampire's Kiss for YEARS, and they just will not listen to me.

The only thing that could have made this more perfect is the bakery scene from Moonstruck.

"Chrissy, get the big knife! I'm gonna cut my throat!"

Posted by: AM at November 22, 2010 4:06 PM

Oh my God, I've never seen Deadfall, but that scene where he belts out a prolonged "FUCK~" has to be one of the greatest scenes in movies. The operatic way he does it! I'm still giggling my ass off. I'm so tempted to do that whenever I'm in the middle of a public place like that.

Also, I didn't know Wicker Man consisted of so many strangely funny women-punching scenes.

Posted by: vic at November 22, 2010 4:51 PM

My laptop lacks the key combination to adequately describe the insanity of this clip.

Posted by: Fredo at November 22, 2010 5:40 PM

...and the lifetime achievement academy award goes to...

Posted by: John W at November 22, 2010 6:46 PM

    OHMYGOD STOP SCREAMING ARGH.

It's a glorious montage of bad hair and screaming. Jeebus.

Posted by: figgy at November 22, 2010 7:44 PM

The longer this went on, the funnier it got. And the music pushed it from crazy/amusing to epically brilliant.

Posted by: Sirveaux at November 22, 2010 8:54 PM

Ohhhh god, that was great. Thank you Harry!

From now on, every time I say the alphabet, I'm totally doing it Cage Style!

Posted by: MelBivDevoe at November 22, 2010 10:36 PM

Great edit, but boy that guy sucks as an actor. Pure ham.

Posted by: Johnnyboy at November 22, 2010 11:10 PM

you mean he doesn't lose his shit in 'valley girl?"

everyone should watch Vampire's Kiss. It's pure cinematic gold.

Posted by: dr. pisaster at November 23, 2010 12:05 AM

Great video Harry. Could you do one next of Jack Palance? He played a villain in most of the movies and tv shows he did over 60+ years and dies at the end of most of them. At least a few dozen of them anyways. I'd love to see an edit of his cheesy death scenes!

Here are some of my favorites:
    Young Guns
    Batman
    City Slickers
and I think he even dies at the end of a 70's Buck Roger episode

Posted by: melanarus at November 23, 2010 2:13 AM

I don't understand how anyone else can ever be called amazing in the face of such a raging counter example. There's just no more room for excellence in the world Nick Cage is occupying all of it.

Posted by: Oh No Citizen at November 23, 2010 3:11 AM

    Fav moment--"Fucking HANGERS!"

Actually, I look a lot like this when my computer (frequently) crashes. I suspect I have issues. And need more medication.

Posted by: DeadBessie at November 23, 2010 8:58 AM

Ok, I'm finally going to watch Wicker Man.

As overused as Requiem For a Dream is, it was used absolutely perfect in that and of course in the movie of it's namesake. The other 5 billion places it gets used ruin it.

Posted by: Paultera at November 23, 2010 12:12 PM

    Missing: Moonstruck
"MY HAAAAAAND! I LOST MY HAAAAAAAD!!"

Posted by: AAAHH! at November 23, 2010 9:16 PM

    "...HAAAAAAAND!!"* rather.

Posted by: oops at November 23, 2010 9:17 PM

I have to go watch ConAir now..
just to see if there are any batshit crazy moments in there. There SHOULD be. But I don't seem to recall any.
    And BRAVO!! Excellent editing

I can feel the crazy ON me

And the music really corresponds to this madness

Posted by: Sharazza at November 25, 2010 1:54 PM

This should be presented at the next Academy Awards as a homage to a true master of all-out craziness.
Awesome vid, 1+ internets for you sir

You forgot to include "Face Off" in the list...and you used it like 5 times....just saying

I love that Nic referenced the best line from 'Birdy', in 'Deadfall'.

keep up the great work on the blog. I appreciate it. Could use some more frequent updates, but i'm quite sure that you got more or better things to do like we all have to do unfortunately. ;)

This is so funny and disturbing all at once that I'm crying, laughing, and popping a xanax. Nick Cage ruined my life.
