Jordan Klepper Reacts To The Fani Willis Misconduct Hearings

Donald Trump was recorded asking the Secretary of State in Georgia to commit election fraud. He uses some mafia-like double talk, but the implication is clear as day. He asked the Secretary (Brad Raffensperger) to “find” almost 12,000 votes in Trump’s favor. It should be an open-and-shut case. A slam-dunk challenge to the wannabe dictator. Unfortunately, it has hit a snag.

The DA in charge of prosecuting Trump, Fani Willis, is being accused of misconduct. It is alleged that she hired someone she was in a relationship with to join the prosecution and that the man she hired, Nathan Wade, returned the favor through lavish gifts. Willis and Wade both testified yesterday, leading to several heated exchanges.

Jordan Klepper, who is hosting The Daily Show for the rest of the week, took time to address the hearing. You can feel the frustration of the longtime correspondent. This is a monumental case! The hope is that everyone is on their best behavior, even if that is, under certain circumstances, unfair.

My first thought when hearing about this case was that it was another instance of Democrats, being the party with the perceived “moral high ground,” having to be perfect. Republicans are more than comfortable with their own hypocrisy. They don’t care. So, Fani Willis is being accused of having a conflict of interest while Clarence Thomas smiles from his bench.

As Klepper points out, Willis did dig herself a deep hole here. In 2020, she specifically said that Georgia deserved a DA who wouldn’t have sex with their employees. It’s not a good look. Is it not nearly as bad as some things Republicans have said/done? Absolutely. But we live in a crazy place. It’s a country where the worst people find new ways to top themselves daily, and nobody bats an eye.
