X-Men: The Animated Series, the greatest X-Men project of all time (fight me), is getting a sequel. X-Men 97 features the voice talents of many of the same actors who starred in the almost 30-year-old original series. Lenore Zann as Rogue, Cal Dodd as Wolverine/Logan, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm/Ororo Munroe, George Buza as Beast/Henry “Hank” McCoy, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner, and Chris Britton as Mister Sinister/Nathaniel Essex.

Along with a slew of other voice actors, Theo James (The White Lotus, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf) will also star in an undisclosed role.

Get excited for March 20th, when X-Men 97 premieres on Disney+

Way over here on the other end of the entertainment spectrum is Knox Goes Away, directed by and starring Michael Keaton. With Al Pacino, James Marsden, and Marcia Gay Harden in it, this is either going to be a masterclass in character acting, or it’s going to be a snoozefest. The “Aging Hitman” trope feels a little stale, but we love Michael Keaton and his gravelly Batman voice!

Knox Goes Away opens in theaters on March 15th.

If we’re going to examine a presidential assassination and glorify the possible conspiracy behind it, I would have preferred we had done it during the last administration. Or really, at any time when the assault-weapon ban was in place. In an election year, when there have been more instances of gun violence than days on the calendar, it feels poorly thought out. Or ill-timed.

I’m not sure we need the story behind the hunt for John Wilkes Booth, but it does have an interesting cast that includes Anthony Boyle (Tetris) as Booth, Hamish Linklater as Lincoln, Lili Taylor, Matt Walsh, and Patton Oswalt.

The seven-episode series begins on AppleTV+ on March 15.

I’m unsure what to make of or how to feel about this week’s lagniappe. It might be the 21st century’s answer to Quest For Fire. Or it’s the absurdist prequel to Harry and the Hendersons. Ari Aster is directing, so it could go either way. Or be both at the same time.
