Call me a camel from a commercial I don’t remember because it’s hump day, people! We’re officially working for the weekend, am I right? Even though I’m a father of two and won’t have real weekends for another twelve to fifteen years, I still feel the pull of a Wednesday. It can drag you down if you don’t have something to help get you over the mid-week hill. Well, I have just the thing for you!

We at this site have made it clear how much we love Jokes Seth Can’t Tell on Late Night with Seth Meyers. It includes everything great about the show. We get hilarious jokes. Seth gets to show off his love for his staff writers. Amber Ruffin and Jenny Hagel get the showcase that they deserve. It’s a blast, and the most recent iteration is one of my favorites in a while.

It all starts normal. Jenny and Amber deliver punchlines that Seth, a straight, white man, can’t. We get a little bit of a break early on when Jenny tells a joke that barely lands. There’s some gentle ribbing and looks of surprise. Seth’s relationship with his staff is a highlight of the show, so seeing him give Hagel guff for a bomb in real-time is charming and fun. It’s after the jokes are done that things get extra silly.

The sketch usually dovetails into Seth telling punchlines and Jenny and Amber reacting in mock shock. This time was no different. However, in this episode, Seth fires a callback at Amber that sends her to the floor. It is such a genuine moment. There is such a clear friendship between the three, and seeing it on display in the middle of a bit is just as adorable as it is hilarious.

Wednesdays can be the worst! So, sometimes, you need an extra boost. This week, that boost is Seth Meyers making a joke about Black people at movie theaters. Who’d a thunk it?!
