Blumhouse is riding the M3GAN wave of zany horror into Spooky Season with the upcoming Prime Video release of Totally Killer.

The time-travel-slasher flick stars Kiernan Shipka, Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer), Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Charlie Gillespie (Julie And The Phantoms), Liana Liberato (Banana Split), and Spiral’s Lochlyn Munro. Plus a little Randall Park, as a treat. It parodies the good tropes of both genres in the best possible ways.

Totally Killer hits Prime Video on October 6th.

Also on Prime Video, Gael García Bernal (Werewolf By Night) stars as Saúl Armendáriz aka “Cassandro” in a campy biopic about the gay, American-born, Mexican “exótico” luchador titled Cassandro.

Bernal leads a cast that includes Bad Bunny, Roberta Colindrez, Perla De La Rosa, Joaquín Cosio, Raúl Castillo, and real-life luchador Murder Clown to tell the story of Armendáriz’s love of lucha libre and how his dedication to the sport led him to fight/perform as an “undignified” drag wrestler.

Cassandro opens in theaters September 15th and begins streaming on Prime Video on September 22nd.

I’m still thinking about the dialect work in last week’s trailer for The Bikeriders that stars Jodie Comer (The Last Duel), Austin Butler (Elvis) and Tom Hardy.

Hardy’s got a little Eddie Brock by way of a helium balloon thing going on there. We’ll see if it makes or breaks the gritty aesthetic of The Bikeriders when it opens in theaters on December 1st.

In this week’s lagniappe, Brie Larson proves you don’t need a cape to be a superhero by starring in Apple TV+’s upcoming series adaptation of the best-selling novel Lessons In Chemistry. It begins streaming on October 13th.
