Whoopi Goldberg, 68, Claims One Of Her Last Boyfriends Was 40 Years Her Senior

Today on The View, the Hot Topic du jour was the online reaction to the trailer for Anne Hathaway’s upcoming movie, The Idea of You. In the flick, Anne plays a 40-something mom who falls for a famous 24-year-old musician. It’s very Olivia Wilde/Harry Styles-coded.

According to moderator Whoopi Goldberg, the “internet is divided” on the lead characters’ age difference: “some call the age gap ‘disgusting’, while others say they’re ‘here for it’.” Well, Whoopi wasn’t here for the Anne Hathaway “cougar” criticism. She flicked her chin at the naysayers and spent the next two minutes tearing her Hot Topics card into smaller and smaller pieces.

Joy Behar, 81, said she thinks it’s great when women date younger:

“Women basically live six years longer than men. So if you go with a guy who’s younger than you, you’ll probably die at the same time. So that’s good!”

Joy also pointed out that men reach their sexual peak earlier in life, and her younger husband (by seven years) is able to drive her around at night. All pros!

Obviously, the women discussed the double standards women face compared to men when it comes to May-December romances. They brought up the fact that Al Pacino, 83, and Robert DeNiro, 80, recently welcomed babies with their much-younger partners. An annoyed Sunny Hostin replied, “And they’re upset at a movie.”

Joy eventually admitted that she thinks “a big gap” can start to get “a little hairy” and “problematic.” That’s when 68-year-old Whoopi dropped this bomb: “One of the last relationships I had… he was forty years older.” A stunned Joy asked, “Is he still alive?” Whoopi responded with a nod and a quick, “Mhmm,” before the cameras cut to commercials. NO! Right when it was getting good!

Now, I ain’t no Alan Turing, but I do know that 68 + 40 is 108. Is Whoopi’s ex actually 108-years-old? Or was she exaggerating? My money’s on the latter. Back in 2022, Whoopi’s granddaughter, Amara Skye, went on that celebrity relative reality show, Claim to Fame, and mentioned her grandmother had recently dated a billionaire in his 90s. So maybe it’s that guy? Ooooh, what if Whoopi’s ex was Rupert Murdoch?? Now there’s an unlikely celebrity couple!
