For those unaware, Claim to Fame — hosted by the two less famous Jonas Brothers (Kevin and Frankie) — is a reality competition where a bunch of unknown nepo babies compete against each other. The idea, basically, is that if a contestant figures out to whom you are related, the contestant is eliminated. Last summer around this same time, Claim to Fame gained some headlines after the grandkid of Chuck Norris was eliminated for cheating. He confiscated a phone inside the house and looked at it, and two out of the three Jonas Brothers take the rules of this game very seriously.
Tom Hanks’ niece apparently also takes the game very seriously. Her name is Carly Reeves, and she was the first person eliminated in the second season of Claim to Fame after a contestant correctly guessed to whom she was related. Reeves lost it. She went full Chet Hanks. I’ll give her this much, though: She wasn’t wrong about the easy clue Hugo received — who wouldn’t guess from an image of the iconic bench from Forrest Gump?
Here, watch Carly lose it:

In an interview with EW afterward, Reeves could at least admit she may have had an outsized response. “I think I overreacted a little bit, but I’m an emotional, very dramatic person,” she said. “I was really angry that I didn’t get a chance to play as long as some of the other contestants. I mean, there was no one to be angry at. I was just angry in general at myself and at the fact that I was going home. And then that turned to complete despair and sadness. I even say, like, ‘I should get more camera time!’ That’s just so silly of me to say. But I also was just saying things out of my mouth.”
What I can’t figure, however, is whether Carly Reeves is the daughter of one of Tom Hanks’ siblings or one of Rita Wilson’s siblings, or a sibling of Hanks’ late first wife, and the Internet is not helping me out here.
