The end of Stranger Things is drawing nearer every day. Netflix’s otherworldly hit began filming its fifth and final season last month, and fans are eager to know what awaits the citizens of Hawkins. With episodes not expected until 2025, the best that fans can hope for are production stills or trailers or an actor accidentally letting something slip in an interview. One star who shan’t be making that mistake is Paul Reiser.
Reiser has been in the business for a long time. I doubt reporters were trying to sweat Mad About You spoilers out of him, but he still knows what not to say and when not to say it. Reiser is currently promoting a comic book that presents a world where his character from Aliens, Carter Burke, had lived. He sat down with the folks at Comicbook.com to discuss the book. At one point, he is asked about his possible involvement in the final Stranger Things season and Reiser is not out to sink any ships.
“If I tell you, a bullet … You see a little red light on me here? There’s somebody watching us at all times,” the actor said. I’d say there’s at least a ten percent chance Ted Sarandos himself is camping outside of Reiser’s home in a surveillance vehicle disguised as a Domino’s delivery van so he can listen in. Not a high percentage, mind you, but I’m not willing to let go of the possibility.
Reiser is likely also dodgy about his involvement because his character’s fate is ambiguous at the moment. There is a chance that Reiser knows as much about what his character is up to as we do. The Duffer Brothers could decide to move on from the Aliens actor entirely if they wanted to, and Reiser would do himself no favors by speaking out of turn.
Reiser was also asked if he could say who dies in the final season of the show. His answer was simple enough. “No, I cannot. I cannot because I don’t know. You have to watch.”
