I was a twelve-year-old boy who loved The Man Show. It was funny (I assumed) and prominently featured cleavage (which I wanted to see), and, ya know, I was twelve. I was not supposed to be watching the show, which made it even better. Plus, it had one of the hosts from Win Ben Stein’s Money! I loved that show! Eventually, the hosts of The Man Show were replaced. One of them had moved on to bigger and better things. Now, twenty years later, Jimmy Kimmel is still celebrating.

Knowing that a twelve-year-old with huge glasses was obsessed with his boob and fart joke show would make Kimmel proud. However, twenty years as host of your own late-night show is a big deal too. Maybe even a bigger deal. Who knows? Jimmy from twenty years ago does. He decided to check in with his future self, and the results were fantastic.

Kimmel also celebrated with his very first musical guest: Coldplay. Not only did the band perform, but Kimmel also performed with them. I found myself getting oddly emotional! To be fair to myself, I love celebrations. Especially in show form. Capping it all with a big, rooftop performance hit me hard. It helps that the song performed came out when I was in middle school, so the nostalgia was strong.

Jimmy Kimmel has more than earned his place in the late-night landscape. I hope he’s able to host for twenty more years or twenty more days, whichever he prefers.
Oh, and yes: Matt Damon got bumped again.
