Jacob Elordi is one of those actors who a lot of perennially online people don't know how to act normally about. He's tall, good-looking, a solid actor, and takes himself very seriously. Plus, he played Heathcliff and some of us are still trying to figure out what the hell was going on in that movie. Right now, Elordi is sleepwalking his way through the third season of Euphoria -- no judgement, can you blame him for wanting to get out of Sam Levinson's fetish fuel platform as soon as possible? -- and his name is being thrown around as a possibility for the next James Bond. I can see why he'd want the gig, although I maintain that he's too tall for it. How can you blend into a crowd when you're two heads taller than everyone else? But all of this also means that there's a bit more attention on him than normal, and with that has come further focus on his newest rumoured girlfriend: Kendall Jenner.
Deuxmoi has been feverishly reporting every apparent update on this new romance, often as an "exclusive", which makes me wonder if Kris has them on speed-dial. Apparently, Elordi and Jenner were seen partying at Coachella, and now we have photos of them in a car with Kylie Jenner and her partner, Timothee Chalamet. Everyone is hiding from the cameras, except Kylie, who is clearly very entertained by the kerfuffle.
Since the internet is never normal about its boyfriends, you know that they have Feelings about Elordi being adjacent to the Kardashian-Jenner family. We went through this already with Timmy, who has now been with Kylie for three years. We're hearing the same cries of "PR setup" and "Kris is making him do it," which is not how a PR relationship works. It never made sense with Kylothee since we barely saw hide nor hair of the pair for years and they only recently started regularly doing red carpets together.
If there's one thing Elordi is going to do, it's date a hot celebrity. He was with Kaia Gerber for a while and was linked to Zendaya for the briefest of moments when she was on a break from Tom Holland. His longest relationship was with Olivia Jade, the influencer still best known for being caught up in the admissions scandal that sent her mother, Lori Loughlin, to prison. Him dating another supermodel should not be a surprise. But here we are, with another round of, oh, my precious male fave is being dragged into the tacky pits of hell by a Kardashian, someone save him. Dudes, come on.
We went through this with Timmy and that also stunk. Ironically, a bunch of Chalamet fans recently decided to ditch him in favour of Elordi. The finger on the cursed monkey's paw just curled down. Parasocial living is hard. Projecting these images of sensitive artistic intellectual souls onto men who are hot, rich and elevated to the status of gods never ends well. Maybe they are like that, but that doesn't stop them from also being bros who like hotties and jock stuff. One of the most interesting things about Chalamet is how he manages to take his work very seriously without sacrificing any of his sports-loving bro nature (shame about the opera comments, obviously.)
Maybe Jacob and Timmy can swap notes on the experience of being obsessed over then tossed aside when they break the internet boyfriend sacred code.
