5 Shows After Dark 7/21/13 | All of the Non Comic-Con News in One Convenient Place

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • Emmie

    Tuesday! Buffy night! (Is happy).

  • BlackRabbit

It's not a reason not to be there, but it is an awesome thing-three of the stuntmen for "Kick-Ass 2" prevented a young lady from committing suicide at the Con.

I apoligize if it's already been reported, I was just so impressed by the story.

  • Vivianne ValdeMar

    I'm confused.
I can't find anything Michael Chiklis and Aaron Paul are starring together in on IMDB. What am I missing?

  • Vivianne ValdeMar

  • InternetMagpie

    WALT JR.

  • PerpetualIntern

    Tom Hiddleston is the best.

  • marya

I hope Hiddleston never gets it in to his head to stage a coup. He's got the "charismatic dictator" thing down pat.

  • Francis Somera

I love you, Joanna Robinson! These posts are so precious and adorable.

  • FrayedMachine

Serious Question - Is Pratt staying that hot for the next season of Parks and Rec? I almost feel like it wouldn't be right for Andy ... not that I'd complain as I stare unabashedly.

  • BigBlueKY

    Good God Jennifer Lawrence....Dat ASS!

  • Berry

    It's mesmerizing. I can't stop staring at her/it.

  • profession: none, or starlet

I think Tom Hiddleston is about the only person, even at Comic-Con, who could call an entire audience cunts and get them to enjoy it.

Also, the idea of Patrick Stewart and Serena cooking dinner together before hitting the con is just so awesome it hurts.

  • BlackRabbit

*Sigh* before you confiscate my geek card, tell me who the guy lying on the floor is?

  • ZombieMrsSmith

    Matt Smith

  • BlackRabbit

Arrgh. His haircut makes him invisible to my geek senses.

  • zeke_the_pig

I love Bob Odenkirk in that Breaking Bad pic. He is so not into that posing thing as the rest of them. He looks like he's just been dragged away from a tasty whiskey buffet.

  • duckandcover

*internal screaming about everything in this post*

  • John W

    Karen Gillan still looks hot.
    Felicia Day...she's so too much...

I wonder how many restraining orders I could collect if I were to go to the SDCC?

  • BWeaves

Why did Karen Gillian shave her head?

  • MrsAtaxxia

For Guardians of the Galaxy. She is playing Nebula, who is bald (or at least she is in this iteration of the character), so the internet tells me.

  • John W

    Yeah originally she wasn't bald.

So we're going to have a bald blue Gillan and a green Saldana and Batista.

  • e jerry powell

I am going to have a risotto cook-off with Sir Ian. I bet my cooking gets me a husband before he finds one.

  • pumpkin

I remember seeing Barrowman in Titans (yes, I watched the entire campy thing) and thinking that guy is wayyyy too good for this mess.

He may be the single most attractive man in the history of the universe.

That's only one woman's humble opinion, of course, but I can't be the only one who thinks so.

  • AshBookworm

You're not. I even watch him on when he's on QVC. :/

  • marya

    Shut the front door!!!

What on earth does he sell on QVC? I really, really, really want it to be queer novelty merch. http://www.zazzle.com/leather_...

    But it's probably flat-front chinos.

  • AshBookworm

Well, I have to admit I don't actually pay attention to what he's selling (I usually just gaze and drool) but I think it's some kind of skincare product and maybe hair too. I just remember that it's called HIM and/or HER or something equally unoriginal.

He usually tweets when he's gonna be on.

  • Conor

Gandalf, you saucy old wench you!

  • apsutter

My Little Pony is awesome...get on board!

  • Fabius_Maximus

  • TheOriginalMRod

Dude. One of these days I am going to that darn thing. I am really tired of being jealous of ever last person that has ever attended. And my dang sister used to LIVE in San Diego. WHY!!!!!????

  • emmalita

I have yet to see someone look unhappy about receiving the Barrowman Grope. I would be ok with it.

  • Malin

Tom Hiddleston fills me with lust. Tom Hiddleston as Loki reduces me a to an incoherent puddle of unfulfilled desire. He is just insanely attractive.

  • Sirilicious

I just watched that session and while not a fan at all myself (well, i wasn't before i watched it), i *really* think you should watch this if you like the guy. I had that involuntary bashful chuckle quite a few times. Plus full on laughs. And he seems like a good person!

  • Sirilicious

You might like his Nerd HQ session then.

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

Ugh, Ming-Na is also not fair. I'm totally cougar smitten.

  • e jerry powell

I was about to smack you, but then I remembered that Ming-Na is turning 50 this November. Cougar-lust to your little heart's content.

  • Sara_Tonin00

The confusion is easy to understand - "was" is the correct first person conjugation for some tenses for which "were" is the conjugation for second person. It's wrong to say "I were a rich man" - so people resist the correct "if I were a rich man..." And as the blog you link to notes - people don't really get the subjunctive - the mere presence of the word "if" doesn't make it subjunctive.

  • Mrs. Julien

This is why, despite the fact that I used to speak English for a living, I am never confident about my grammar. I've only used affect/effect correctly for about a year and I avoid semi-colons for all I'm worth.

  • Sara_Tonin00

    I love me some semi-colons.

I recently started copyediting, and the killer for me is which/that. It's "that" so much more often than I expect it to be.

(side note: I almost posted about the nerd girl song's use of further/farther, but forebore. side side note: she's someone I knew in college and I didn't even recognize her.)

  • Cazadora

I will rewrite a sentence before using a semi-colon. It's like I expect the grammar gods to come smite me or something.

  • Mrs. Julien

I will, too, because on Pajiba, those gods are very real and they are angry, my friend.

  • calliope1975

I have such a love/hate relationship with CC. When I've gone, I've been irritated by the immense crowds and the inability to get into more than one panel. But when I'm not there, I miss the energy, the exclusives and the exhibition floor even if it's a challenge to walk more than 5 feet.

    I hate the things I love. It's a conundrum.

  • Jen

I know Hiddleston gets a lot of shit for his pretentious Twittering and being "on" all the time. But this was just so fucking cool of him to do for the comic con nerds.

  • Pants-are-a-must

First time in my life I sorely, sorely wish I was at Comic Con.
