Because It Must Be So Exciting To Be A Newly Minted Geek Icon

…Or Not.

Because Joss’s Moneypenny Would Kick Ass

Because Even The Most Glamorous People Can Look Like Dorks In Convention Chairs

Because You’re Never Too Young To Start Cosplaying Even If You Don’t Know What You’re Dressed As Which, I Hope, Is The Case With That Tiny Daenerys

Because You’re Never Too Old To Keep Cosplaying

Because The New “Legends Of Korra” Trailer Kicks So Much Ass You’ll Forget About That Shyamalan Movie

Because This Is Where Geek Worlds Collide

Because Despite Her Brady-Marrying Tendencies, Adrianne Curry Always Brings It

Because I Suppose That’s One Way To Get Through The Night

Because Show Creators Can Be So Adorable About Their Actors

…Or Not.

Because They Should Just Go Ahead And Call It Riddick 3: The Starbuckening

I Mean, Because Seriously, Sackhoff, Daaaaaaamn

Because It’s Fun To Watch Celebrities Play With Themselves

Because It’s Weird To See Karen Gillan Without Matt Smith. Nice. But Weird.

Because I Guess That Guy From “Vikings” Keeps His Hair Like That All The Time

Because This Is The Best TARDIS I’ve Ever Seen. And I’ve Seen A Lot.

Because Just Thinking About It Makes Me Thirsty

Because George Is A Heartless Bastard

Because If The Trailer For The Veronica Mars Movie Didn’t Reduce Me To A Puddle Of Marshmallow Goo

…This Surely Would

I'm Younger Than That Now | And Eight, Eight, I Forget What Eight Was For: Eight Things You May Not Have Heard About This Week

Comments Are Welcome, Bigots and Trolls Are Not

  • John W

Is there anything cuter than kids cosplaying?

I hope they gave Tatiana a standing ovation.

  • llp

Nobody has mentioned Travis Fimmel - he looks a bit rough in that photo, admittedly, but for the most part he totally pulls of that Vikings hair. Not the beard though - the eyes can't make up for that beard.

  • Meg

Are the two little cosplayers in the first kid pic doing Supernatural? Because if that is girl!Castiel with a big fluffy black tutu I'm going to be so happy.

  • Jezzer

I'm guessing that Barrowman mistook Barton for scenery and started chewing him.

  • Uriah_Creep

I'll see your picture of Karen Gillan and raise with this one:

Apparently, she's shaved her head for a role. Oh no, Karen!

  • foolsage

Yup. Karen is apparently playing the bald version of Nebula in "Guardians of the Galaxy".

  • JoannaRobinson

I *thought* that looked like a wig!

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

Damn. She's still gorgeous with the shaved head. Seriously, that's not a look you see many women just easily rocking very often.

Also-- I can't believe I omitted her in my Freebies. i just bombed that so hard.

  • Uriah_Creep

I agree that she still looks damn good, but my libido happens to prefer the long red hair. If the Guardians of the Galaxy movie is good, though, I will totally forgive her. (I'm sure she'll be very relieved.)

  • Lauren_Lauren

Oh my god. First, the Legend of Korra trailer. Then, the WET. MARS. MEN. All my dreams are coming true.

    *high fives the universe*

  • googergieger

Anyways, Comic Con died years ago, hosers.

  • sarah

Veronica still has the same handbag from season 3, I have no idea why I got so excited when I noticed that.

  • 4am

hey: it's one of the Mythbusters with Tardis!

  • Sara_Tonin00

AH, thank you for confirming - I thought so!

  • JoannaRobinson

    Totally. Grant is the BEST.

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

It's totally rude to go off appearances alone, but I think I want to marry that TARDIS girl.

  • Also: Dammit, Henry Cavill, smile. You're a superstar now. That means more work, more fans, more money, more opportunities to take your shirt off. SMILE.

  • Mrs. Julien

I think this is the (Oh my God, he's so good-looking) only time I've seen him looking less than polite and friendly.

  • Margrete

SQUEEEEE! The VM video makes me happier than it really should.

  • Ruthie O

I had no idea Legend of Korra was even a thing. Considering how hard I loved The Last Airbender, I have no idea how I missed it. Must find. Must consume.

Also, Korra! Veronica! Sarah/Beth/Allison/Cosina! So many strong women characters to celebrate!

  • I love Korra. If you are a fan of the strong female character, there are TONS in Legend of Korra - the Avatar herself, Lin Beifong (Toph's daughter), Asami Sato, even Tenzin's daughters Jinora and Ikki. (And in the upcoming season there are Korra's twin waterbending cousins who appear to be awesome-adjacent if they're not actually awesome.)

Heck, even in the original A:TLA there were all sorts of strong female characters - heroes and villains alike.

    /climbs down off geeky soapbox

  • Stephen Nein

HOW THE FUCK is Korra (or even Last Airbender>, but that's a whole other topic . . ) not a Thing on Pajiba? Ruthie, I'm not picking on you out of malice, this fact simply boggles my mind.

The animation is superb, if not exquisite.

Korra is a strong heroine - and she passes the Bechel test over and over again.

The design team created a world that make them look like they all have Master's in History or Archeological Design, because they thought it would be cool to pick up on weekends, y'know? And they thought it be cool to throw that in while writing a teen cartoon series.

  • Ruthie O

Yeeeeeee! You have me shivering in excitement! I only heard about A:TLA when I was visiting home from college oh so many years ago; my younger brother was obsessed. I thought I was too cool for school, but a few episodes in, I was hooked. After A:TLA was finished (and what a finish!), I just stopped paying attention to Nickelodeon.

But I am so happy! Every once in a while, I feel worried that I have watched all the TV that there is to watch, and then I discover something amazing. I'm definitely marathoning Korra this week. Definitely.

  • Did you SEE the bit with Wan, the first Avatar? Glenn from The Walking Dead.

I would pay to get Norman Reedus a character.

  • emmalita

Tatiana Maslany looks like she's having so much fun.

  • llp

Kit Harrington looks like he is having fun, and also he is hot. Cavill looks sour, and also he is hot. I hope that is just a bad photo of Cavill, or I might feel a bit bad about my choices for the Pajiba 5.

  • Mrs. Julien

"Oh my God, he's so good-looking, [pause], but he looks so unhappy."

See, my interior Cavill monologue is vaguely changed, but people hate the movie and he recently had a PR crash, so maybe he's not in a good mood. Let me restore your faith -

  • llp

Also, *whispers* I liked the movie.

  • llp

    Faith restored, thank you.

Gah, I love him. "Wikiepedia is your source?!?" He seems so good natured and mannerly in interviews.

  • Mrs. Julien

He's just worn me down with the "Oh my god, he's so good-looking" (every. time.) and the mannerly and the clear work ethic and the unfailingly polite. I watched bloopers from The Tudors and he kept blowing the same line and he said, "Thank You" every time someone supplied it.

  • llp

I am only three episodes into The Tudors. When he is seducing the traitor's daughter, for the second time, he has a dangerously mischevious look about him - he was magic to watch in that moment.

  • Mrs. Julien

He may be the best looking man I've ever seen, but not even that was enough to get me to sit through The Tudors without a lot of fast forwarding. Also, it may be the LEAST historically-accurate TV show, film, or book ever.

  • AvaLehra

Good to know because I've been contemplating Netflixing that.

  • Mrs. Julien

This is exactly what strangely-fixated people's YouTube videos are for. You can get a whole bunch of Tudors Cavill in a short period of time. Try his death scene. He looks like he could benchpress his bed.

  • llp

It has taken me about three weeks to get through those three episodes, to be honest. I am trying to decide if Cavill (and a bit of Callum Blue) is enough to get me through the rest. I am guessing not.

  • Pyxee

I really enjoyed the Tudors. The acting was uneven and it was extremely inaccurate, but there were some really great performances. Mainly Sam Neill, Sarah Bolger and Natalie Dormer. One of those shows that felt worth it when if finally hit the right note.

  • Emmie Gray

I enjoyed Maria Doyle-Kennedy's Catherine of Aragon.

  • llp

I will give it another try, then.

  • Mrs. Julien

You'll note that none of the actors listed above were the leads for any length of time.

  • rd

G o T panel gets a surprise visit by Khal-Drogo, WOW, this is brilliant... check it out...

  • koko temur

OMG this is such a flawless exit. Awesome!

  • emmalita

I'm stupidly excited for the Veronica Mars movie and that gif of the men in the rain will be in my dreams.

  • koko temur

    also - buffy reference!

  • JoannaRobinson

Ugh, I can't believe Piz got the best line.

  • koko temur

He must be her date, right? Right?!
I hate the fact that i mind it so much. I always fancied myself above the silly shippers, BUT HE JUST SHOULDNT BE THERE.

  • Long_Pig_Tailor

They're just friends. She wants a date so Logan isn't as creepy around her. Or something. Seriously, anything but that he's her actual, serious date.

I'm not even necessarily all that much a LoVe person, I just can't stand Piz. I'll ship her and Duncan before I'll accept Piz.

  • koko temur

I think the best possible way is if he dates mac, but it seems impossible in the trailer.

I honestly dont mind piz that much. I just firmly believe that third season never happened, and him being at the reunion ruins it.

  • Skyler Durden

Goddamnit, I love, love, LOVE old cosplayers. Especially when they cosplay as old people. They just get it.

    THEY. GET. IT.

Old people cosplaying is my favorite thing ever.

  • googergieger

Why did you put up a picture of Mitch Mcconell? Wait, what that isn't Mitch Mcconell? I see....

  • Jezzer

Well, if there wasn't "Captain Jack Harkness blows Castiel" fanfic before, there certainly is now.

  • BlackRabbit

Well, if you only get one chance to get touched by an angel, do it right...

  • OK, is Robb Stark wearing a Jon Snow t-shirt? Because if that's the case I might just die.

  • Genevieve Burgess

It's a nice companion to the photo of Jon Snow wearing a Robb Stark tee shirt. http://www.memeslanding.com/Ga...

  • emmalita

    I think he is!

  • koko temur

did anybody else looked at that GoT cast pic and thought "damn, i never could remember which one is weiss and which one is benioff, but i sure as hell will learn it now to make my stalking of the tall and husky one a little easier"? No? Just me?

  • Genevieve Burgess

I was going to reply "Benioff" because I ALWAYS know. So, it's not just you.

Related: He's like the bro-iest producer ever. I saw (online) a panel he was on where he talked about forcing Jason Momoa to arm-wrestle with him and ending up with a literal crushed hand.

  • koko temur

Who would want to arm-wrestle Mamoa?
    so, pretty AND stupid? SOLD.

  • Genevieve Burgess

    Absolutely. Here's your proof: http://www.starpulse.com/news/...

  • Maguita NYC

All my gratitude Genevieve, all of it!

  • emmalita

I don't know which is which, but I admire your commitment to correct stalking methodology.

  • koko temur

im nothing if not metecious. And malicious, but that is unrelated.
But seriously. Amanda Peet married well. Damn well.

  • emmalita

We wouldn't want you stalk the wrong person.

  • 724wd

could that little girl be asrid from how to train your dragon? could go either way to me...

  • Juxyn

The costume looks like Dany, but that's definitely Toothless on her hand.

  • Sirilicious

    Mmmm, moist Mars men.

  • goes well with moist lions.

  • Sirilicious

  • Mrs. Julien

    Yours is more majestic...

Also, should we have moist FEMALE lions? To the Googles!

  • Sirilicious

True. Yours looks more like this:

  • Mrs. Julien

This is its reaction to Cumberbatch...

  • Mrs. Julien

And it is just that angry.

  • Mrs. Julien

I call the second one "The Daniel Craig".

  • Ploppy son of ploppy

Am i the only person that does not find it adorable when you dress your kids up and drag them along to a convention?

  • Zen

We can't all rise to the position of jailer. Some of us are still sloppers.

  • Sarah

I don't know if it's the case with SDCC, but most conventions I've been to have child-focused activities where they won't be in the mad crush of people.

  • llp

Kids love to dress up, and be admired in their costumes. My sister brings her kids dressed as characters they love, and they have a great time. Not to sure about the Dany one, though.

  • emmalita

It's true! My niece insists on wearing various princess costumes everywhere. I took her to the farmer's market when she was wearing a princess costume and a pirate costume. A big burly man with a shaved head and gold hoop ear-ring looked her up and down and said, "I have a dress just like that at home." Z was in a belligerent mood so she glared at him and shouted, "I'm prettier!"

  • llp

My sister got a picture of my nephew in one of his superhero costumes with Stan Lee. It was glorious.

  • NathanielS

They look like they are having fun.

  • Ian Fay

Am I the only one who finds Emilia Clarke about 5000 times more attractive as a brunette?

I mean, she's terrific as Dany, but daaaaamn that color suits her.
