Yes, friends. You get a double dose of Jimmy Fallon today. Because as ear-punchingly mediocre as that Russell Crowe number was, this is its equal and opposite counterpoint.
As you may know, Rivers was named Johnny Carson’s permanent guest host in 1983, but a few years later, due to a feud between the two, she was banned from the show. According to Rivers,
I left to do my own show at Fox and I don’t think [Carson] ever thought a woman would leave. I think if you’re funny, you can be a man, a woman, a dog. For some reason, I left and I was banned from his show forever.
But last night, she appeared as a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show (following a brief return last month), and she seemed to be trying to to cram 26 years worth of cringe-inducing jokes into seven minutes. It’s pretty terrific to watch Fallon, Russell Crowe and multiple Roots bury their heads in their hands.
Vivian Kane wants someday to be the perfect mix and wonderful and terrible.
