Getting to Know SNL's Sasheer Zamata
We still don’t know very much about Sasheer Zamata, do we? After she was hurriedly added to the SNL cast last winter to prove that the show really, they swear, doesn’t have a diversity problem, we didn’t see too much of her. (except for her first episode, when she had about as much screen time as Drake, the host). Not that that’s unusual for a first-season cast member. Unless you’re Cecily Strong, your first season roles are usually limited to “waitress” and maybe trying out a couple of impressions.
But this video from Rookie, an online magazine and community for teen girls, which features Zamata in the segment Ask a Grown Woman gives us a brief glimpse. Similar to Amy Poehler’s Ask Amy series, you can hear her give advice to girls who’ve written in with questions about subjects like virginity and harassment, though really, most of the questions really deal with those deep-rooted girl issues of confidence and self-worth.
The video comes from the same site that produced Stephen Colbert’s absolutely amazing Ask a Grown Man video that was going around last month.
