Wanda Sykes is a naturally funny human being. Some people rely on jokes. Others take to physical comedy. A select few can be funny via song. Wanda Sykes needs only to show up. That’s what she’s been doing for decades: showing up and improving whatever she’s working on through her presence. This week, she graced the Late Night with Seth Meyers stage and took an already funny bit to the next level.

‘Jokes Seth Can’t Tell’ is a bit featuring Late Night writers and masterminds behind The Amber Ruffin Show, Amber Ruffin, and Jenny Hagel. The premise is simple. Seth has a very diverse staff; therefore, some jokes would not be appropriate coming out of a straight, white man. Seth tees up the jokes, and Amber and Jenny knock them down. It is a segment that the folks at Pajiba are big fans of.

This week, to make a great thing even more remarkable, Wanda Sykes popped in! Amber covers Black jokes. Jenny covers gay jokes. Wanda can do both! While she didn’t get to take part in the segment for very long, she brings a jolt of energy that leaves an immediate impression. An already wonderful sketch is made even better by her presence. That’s a gift right there!
