As a chill enters the air and the fall kicks into full swing, the TV Gods have given us more reason to spend those longer nights inside, and there are a lot of new shows to look forward to this week, just as several are coming to their ends. Here’s the lowdown:

Sunday
IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO Max) — Reviews, so far, have been decidedly mixed, but who doesn’t want to at least test the waters on the prequel series to Stephen King’s It (and decidedly not the prequel series to Derry Girls, unless that show is not what I thought it was).

Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order (AMC+) — I am hopeful that the latest Anne Rice series with Nicholas Denton and William Fichtner doesn’t just make us wish that the third season of Interview with a Vampire would premiere already.

Mayor of Kingstown (Paramount+) — The Taylor Sheridan-produced series starring Jeremy Renner is formless and meandering, but it’s also propulsive and weirdly entertaining, as bleak as it may be.

Tuesday

Don’t Date Brandon (Paramount+) — It’s a true crime series, not about the former President, but about two women who discover they dated the same deceptive man they met online. After launching a podcast about their experiences with Brandon, more victims emerge, revealing a pattern of manipulation and dark secrets.

Chad Powers (Hulu) — The season finale of the Glen Powell series airs, and hopefully, it won’t entirely be about Chad’s prosthetic. Powell and the Mannings want to make another season, and if he reveals himself in the season finale, I wonder how possible that will be?

Only Murders in the Building (Hulu) — The show has already solved one of this season’s major murders; there’s just one remaining. But honestly: Does this show even need murders anymore?

Wednesday
Down Cemetery Road (Apple TV) — More than anything, this is what I’m most looking forward to this week: An Emma Thompson mystery drama from the folks behind Slow Horses.

Slow Horses (Apple TV) — And with Down Cemetery Road premiering, Slow Horses concludes a fifth season that has not been quite as engaging as the last four. It feels like it’s only finally gelling as the season concludes.

Thursday
The Witcher Season 4 (Netflix) — Now with 100 percent less Henry Cavill and 100 percent more lesser Hemsworth.

Saturday
Saturday Night LiveSNL begins another three-episode run with Miles Teller and musical guest Brandi Carlisle. Nikki Glaser (and musical guest Sombr) hosts the next week, followed by Glen Powell and Olivia Dean on November 15th.

The Best of This Week’s Continuing Shows
The Chair Company (HBO), Maigret (PBS), The Lowdown(Hulu), and Murdaugh: Death in the Family (Hulu).

New to Streaming Movies
Weapons (HBO Max yesterday), Jurassic World: Rebirth on Peacock on October 31st, and on November 1st, Netflix adds Tenet, The Nun II, Elvis, Ocean’s 8, Paddington 2, and Wonka to its streaming service.
