For a man best known for his comedic work in The Office, The Anchorman movies, and (unfortunately), Space Force, Steve Carell is also a versatile dramatic actor, eliciting an Oscar nomination in Foxcatcher, playing a Matt Lauer-like sexual predator in The Morning Show, and even playing a real-life silver fox.
In his next role, Carell plays a heavily-bearded therapist who is held captive by a serial killer (played by Domnall Gleeson) who demands that Carell’s character cure him of his impulses. In the 10-episode series from the guys behind The Americans, Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, Carell’s character is also dealing with his own issues: The death of his wife, and an estranged relationship with his son. It all adds up to an intense, powder-keg of a series where Carell’s character has to escape his captor, stop him from killing again, and prevent himself from becoming complicit in the serial killer’s crimes.

The FX series will stream on Hulu on August 30th.
