I’ve made it clear that I don’t care for the NFL. However, I wasn’t always that way. There was a time when I cheered mightily for the Green Bay Packers. I lived in Louisiana when they won the Super Bowl and instantly became a fan. How could I not? Legendary quarterback Brett Favre was leading the charge. When he retired, I thought we’d never see another QB like him in that spot. Instead, Aaron Rodgers burst onto the scene. Two incredible quarterbacks on the same team back-to-back. The only way it could be more remarkable is if they both turned out to be massive pieces of shit.

Remarkability it is! Favre is an ultra-conservative MAGA supporter who said TFG “had our country in a better place” just this year. Viewpoints aside, he also helped steal $77 million from Mississippi welfare. Following in Favre’s footsteps once again, Rodgers is a conspiracy theory-loving anti-vaxer who has taken to publicly (and baselessly) accusing Jimmy Kimmel of pedophilia.

Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee show and implied that Jimmy Kimmel would be on the Jeffery Epstein list. This is after Rodgers, in his infinite lack of wisdom, claimed that the list was being released to distract people from larger stories. Sure, Jan. Well, after taking to Twitter to call out Rodgers, Kimmel took a more direct route. He put on a nice suit, got in front of cameras, and ripped Rodgers a new asshole.

I’m always amazed when certain celebrities, let’s call them Idiots, decide to attack professional comedians. It never goes well. It is likely part of the Dunning-Kruger effect. As Kimmel points out in his monologue, the effect is when someone with limited competence in a particular domain overestimates their abilities. Rodgers thought, presumably, that because he’s allowed to speak into a microphone on occasion, he could take shots at someone who’s been speaking into a microphone for over 30 years and come out unscathed. He was wrong.

This is, I believe, the angriest we’ve ever seen Jimmy Kimmel. He is calm and cool, but there is a seething anger underneath his takedown of Rodgers. Kimmel takes him apart with precision. Rodgers took things too far with this baseless accusation. Kimmel threatened to sue him (and, according to Dustin, could still do so). I don’t blame Kimmel for reacting the way he has. One of the other times we’ve seen him get this raw on his show was when he was talking about his ailing son. Kimmel takes this seriously.

Aaron Rodgers is set to appear on McAfee’s show later today. It will be interesting to see what his response is. Kimmel has allowed Rodgers to apologize. If he’s smart, that’s exactly what he will do. However, I wouldn’t put all of my eggs in that basket.
