Good Omens, as Neil Gaiman had hoped, will indeed return for a third and final season, allowing the author to complete his and the late Terry Pratchett’s vision for the entire series.

“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006,” Neil Gaiman said in announcing the renewal. “Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season one was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies and the End of the World. Season two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in season three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.”

The 18 people still on Tumblr are losing their shit. There are 4897 GIF responses to the plot tease, “And they aren’t talking” already. It’s unclear why they aren’t talking, but it’s worth noting that Crowley and Aziraphale weren’t doing a lot of talking at the end of season two, either, if you get my meaning.

David Tennant and Michael Sheen will begin shooting the third season soon in Scotland. Neil Gaiman will continue on as showrunner.
