Seth Meyers aired another edition of his popular “Day Drinking with Seth” segment last night, this time with Sabrina Carpenter, someone he admits he doesn’t know that well but who is clearly a favorite of Lorne Michaels over on SNL.
Carpenter, I would say, played it somewhat conservatively, and didn’t get nearly as plastered as, say, Dua Lipa, who at one point fell asleep in the bathroom during her segment. Carpenter was very charming, although within the first five minutes of the segment, she stuck her foot in her mouth. Asked to rank Seth Meyers’ hotness between a one and a 10 or take a drink, Carpenter did not hesitate: “A 7.” Meyers was clearly hoping for better. And then there were a couple of jokes at the expense of his age that highlighted the clear generational differences.
It’s fun. Just not stumbling, falling down, laughing drunkenly on the floor fun (like the Julia Louis-Dreyfus edition), and that “7” cast an amusing pall over the whole thing.
I mean, if Seth Meyers is a 7, what must she think of everyone else over the age of 40?
