Donald Trump is currently on trial for alleged hush money payments to pornographic actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an affair they had. He is the first former president to be put on trial like this. It is a significant occurrence and is not the only thing he’s going to court for. Given his behavior, you’d never know the former game show host was on trial.

Trump took time during his day off from court to take shots at Jimmy Kimmel on Truth Social. Do you remember the Oscars? The awards show that took place a month and a half ago? Of course, you don’t! You’re a normal person who has moved on with your life. Trump, on the other hand, is a deranged egomaniac with time to kill while he’s awaiting jury selection.

Jimmy Kimmel read a post from Trump on the night of the Oscars. The moment clearly got under Trump’s leathery skin. He used his lengthy Truth Social post to attempt to drag Kimmel for his hosting abilities. He criticized the ratings (even though they were up this year), confused him for Al Pacino (not the worst thing to happen), and claimed Kimmel’s wife begged him not to read Trump’s post.

Since Jimmy Kimmel has an audience who aren’t required to be there via court order, he opened his monologue by responding to Trump’s lunacy. “I don’t know. That must be why they asked me to host the show again next year. Which I wasn’t planning to do but now I might,” Kimmel said about the ratings jab. “Maybe - you know what - maybe you can watch on the TV in the rec room at Riker’s with all the guys.”

In response to Trump invoking Kimmel’s wife, Jimmy referenced a now infamous Oscar moment. “Which is not at all what happened. What happened is I saw — they showed me what he posted. I looked and I said, “Oh, I’m gonna read this.” My wife said, “Oh no.” I said, “Oh yes!” and that was that. That was the whole story,” Kimmel said. “And by the way — keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”

The war of words is not likely to stop. Trump has no shortage of all-caps posts to levy on his critics. The difference is that Kimmel doesn’t have to respond. Trump will be obsessed with him regardless. However, if Jimmy does respond, it will be on air, not from a holding cell.
