In 1978, Jamie Lee Curtis starred in Halloween. In 2018, Jamie Lee Curtis starred in Halloween … again. The recent reboot was her fifth time playing the character of Laurie Strode, who is haunted by the serial killer known as Michael Myers. When Halloween Ends releases this Friday, it will be Curtis’s seventh and allegedly final tangle with the silent, stalking killer. But we’ve seen her killed and return before, so Jimmy Kimmel wanted some proof.

Jamie Lee stopped by Jimmy Kimmel: Live recently to promote her new movie. Before we get into the Halloween of it all though, the interview in full is an outstanding watch. Curtis has this incredible way about her that reads as a good sport that doesn’t want to put up with any bullshit. She calls Jimmy out for having a nameplate (though he does give a very sweet reason as to why) and then admonishes him for encouraging parents to prank their kids by pretending to take their Halloween candy.

By the time Kimmel presents a contract that will keep Curtis from playing Strode again, she is both in hysterics and treating it like the nonsense that it is. It’s delightful to see someone take something so seriously while not taking it seriously at all. It’s a method that more actors should embrace. What you’re doing is ridiculous for a plethora of reasons, so just lean into it!

I love the Halloween movies (that aren’t made by Rob Zombie), even when they aren’t so good. Jamie Lee has seen the best of what the franchise has to offer. She has also seen the dregs that can emerge in its name. The whole time she has remained a stalwart cheerleader. If anyone deserves a rest from this machine, it’s her. That said, if they drove enough money up to her house that made her say, “f*** it,” that would be great too.

Jamie Lee Curtis gets to do or not do whatever she wants. Those are the rules.
