Superhero fatigue! I can’t say for sure that it’s a real thing. There could be a lot of factors involved. Many superhero movies are made and then dropped on streaming within a month (or less). That may keep people from going to see them in theaters. Some studios (not saying names here) are spread so thin that the quality of their product has diminished. That it will keep people away.
There’s also the indisputable fact that not every superhero movie or show is led by Iman Vellani. If that were the case, no one would have superhero fatigue. I can think of few actors who are both perfect for the roles they are cast in and also brimming with charisma. Vellani not only plays Kamala Khan to perfection, but she is also a charismatic superstar.
Vellani does have a lot to work with. The character of Kamala Khan is being adapted as she was created (by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona, and Jamie McKelvie). The character lept off the page from the very beginning. Now, Vellani has been given a chance to add to that legacy, as she has written a Miss Marvel book of her own.
The MCU actor stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers to discuss her comic (and have her do a hilarious impersonation of Sam Jackson). While there, she talks about a Spider-Man comic that Seth Meyers wrote with Bill Hader. Meyers seems genuinely touched. It’s a sweet moment from a talented and charismatic actor with a long career ahead of her.
