The holiday season is in full swing. If there is anyone who could use a heaping helping of figgy pudding-flavored goodwill, it’s Dwayne The Rock Johnson. Dwayne spent most of 2022 attempting a not-so-hostile takeover of the DCEU. It failed. Not only was it unsuccessful, it failed publicly. Dwayne’s standing in the Hollywood Hierarchy got so bad that he bent his knee to Vin Diesel.

Now, the Rock is slowly stoking the flames of a future run for President. It feels like a topic that the former WWE superstar can pivot to at the slightest sign of trouble. It makes sense. The race for President of the United States is essentially a popularity contest. When Dwayne isn’t changing the hierarchy of the DC Universe, he’s a popular guy. Look no further than his recent appearance on The Tonight Show for proof.

Dwayne and Jimmy Fallon (who could also use some goodwill) ventured a few blocks to FAO Schwarz. They hid in a robot and surprised unsuspecting shoppers. It’s delightful. After a year of PR misses, Dwayne’s people made the right move here. People are excited to see his big, smiling, hulking body. They marvel at his impeccably white smile. It’s a homerun segment.

I’m a sucker for this kind of bit. I still cracked up when Dwayne kept mentioning the name of the debit card he used to purchase gifts for all the shoppers. Goodwill is great. It’s even better if you can couple it with some sweet, stanky ad money. The Rock is still the Rock. If he does run for President, his tour bus will be fueled by Teremana Tequila.
