Bravo is responding to recent litigation that claims NDAs issued by the network prevent the cast and crew of reality shows from reporting workplace misconduct.

“Confidentiality clauses are standard practice in reality programming to prevent disclosure of storylines prior to air. They are not intended to prevent disclosure by cast and crew of unlawful acts in the workplace, and they have not been inforced in that manner,” a spokesperson for the network told The Hollywood Reporter.

“To be clear: any current or former cast or crew is free to discuss and disclose any allegedly unlawful acts in the workplace, such as harassment or discrimination, or any other conduct they have reason to believe is inappropriate.” Details as to the systems in place that allow this reporting remain unclear.

The network was recently brought under fire for allegedly covering up claims of misconduct when a makeup artist who worked on the set of Below Deck Sailing Yacht issued allegations against a star of that show, Gary King. She claims the allegations were mishandled.

Bravo’s official statement addressed this controversy by saying, “We are also working with our third-party production companies to remind all cast and crew that they are encouraged to report any such concerns through the channels made available by the production company so concerns can be promptly addressed.”

With half of the storylines appearing on Bravo these days originating outside of filming and often after filming has wrapped, or even hinging on public internet disputes, maybe the prevention of disclosure of said storylines is becoming a moot point.
