I know it’s M. Night Shyamalan, and I know that he has consistently disappointed us since … Unbreakable? But I’m intrigued by the trailer for Wayward Pines, a mini-series coming to Fox this May. It helps that Shyamalan is not the actual writer (or even creator. Chad Hodge holds both those titles), but more interesting, really, is the cast: Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard, Justin Kirk, and Melissa Leo. It has a certain Twin Peaks quality about it, too.

If the plot is not apparent from the trailer, here’s the IMDB synopsis:

A Secret Service agent goes to Wayward Pines, Idaho, in search of two federal agents who have gone missing in the bucolic town. He soon learns that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

It’s the phone call in which Dillon is asked to kill the man in front of him that hooked me.
