As Comic Con has come to a close in 2012, I was beginning to think about what might dominate the convention next year, and it occurred to me that one of the most beloved sci-fi books in recent memory was being made into a film. Production on the film actually kind of sneaked up on me. It’s one of those movies that has been discussed theoretically for so long that — mostly as an unfilmable book — that it never dawned on me that it actually began lensing. In fact, there’s a release date set: November 1, 2013. Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is set to direct, and Orson Scott Card is even on board with a cameo voice role.
No pictures or trailers have been released from the movie so far, but we do know who the entire cast is. This should give you a rough idea of what those beloved characters will look like on the big screen.
