This Is Terrifying

As TFG’s (the former guy) approval ratings continue to fall amid multiple investigations (the latest poll shows him with a 34 percent approval rating, compared to 45 for Joe Biden), he seems to be taking his potential 2024 campaign into a dangerously new direction. Instead of appealing to the sorts of broad coalitions necessary to win a Presidential campaign, TFG is zeroing in on his most ardent and crazed followers.

In other words, he’s aiming not to win the election in 2024, but to steal the election in 2024.

It’s the only explanation I can offer for why TFG is directly appealing to the Q-Anon folks. He has, for instance, been amplifying Q-Anon conspiracy theories on Truth Social. To wit:

The Storm, according to PBS News, refers to “[TFG’s]’s final victory, when supposedly he will regain power and his opponents will be tried, and potentially executed, on live television.” Over the weekend at a rally, he embraced it even more overtly. Watch this, and specifically, listen to the music and the response from the crowd:

That music, which plays for 10 minutes until the end of the speech, is called “WWG1WGA,” which is an acronym for the QAnon slogan “Where we go one, we go all.” (A Trump spokesman denies it, and simply says it’s a coincidence that the music sounds exactly like “WWG1WGA”). You can also see that acronym in the above Truth Social post. Meanwhile, the response to the speech and the Q-Anon theme song from the crowd looked like this:

The one finger they are raising refers to the 1 in the Q-Anon theme song. That’s not terrifying at all.

TFG’s legitimate path to victory no longer exists, and now he’s trying to take America down with him. If he gets arrested, if he goes to prison, if he runs again, he has an army of deranged lunatics to take to the streets and fight his battles. This is scary for Democracy. It’s scary for Democrats, and hell: If Ron DeSantis takes him on in the 2024 primaries, these people will undoubtedly go after the Florida governor, as well. It is a very large cult of very dangerous people who very much believe that anyone who does not support TFG is the enemy. They are not in their right mind, and they do not treat the enemy well.
