Update: Derek Chavin has finally been arrested.

A Black CNN reporter, Omar Jimenez, was arrested by police this morning in Minneapolis while covering the protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death. The arrest was caught on camera, and as is evident, Jimenez gave officers absolutely no reason to arrest him.

Nearby, a white CNN journalist, Josh Campbell, was not only not arrested, but was “treated differently.”

“I was treated much differently than [CNN correspondent Omar Jimenez] was. I’m sitting here talking to the National Guard, talking to the police. They’re asking politely to move here and there. A couple times I’ve moved closer than they would like. They asked politely to move back. They didn’t pull out the handcuffs. Lot different here than what Omar experienced.”

Context: Omar Jiminez, who calmly cooperated with police, was arrested. Derek Chauvin, the police officer who “allegedly” murdered George Floyd on camera, has still not been arrested, despite video evidence, a history of violence, and numerous complaints filed against him.

The Politics — In the wake of the protests in Minneapolis, the President has encouraged violence against protestors, which earning him a warning from Twitter. Joe Biden, meanwhile, has weighed in against Trump’s tweets.

Related: Amy Klobuchar — who has been vetted as a potential VP nominee — declined to prosecute two dozen officer-involved fatalities that occurred during her time as a prosecutor in Minnesota. That revelation should rule her out as a potential VP nominee.

Update: Omar Jiminez has been released and is reporting again from Minnesota.
