In preparation for this week’s episode of Podjiba, I present to you the following moment from the Pajiba slack:

Dustin: I’m going to hate this.

Dan: Now you’re getting it!

Anyway, break out your fanciest and/or french toast-iest beers, because it’s our 200th episode!

(Note: Dustin did not, in fact, break out the french toast beer, despite his clear promises to do so previously)

Anyway. To celebrate both this milestone and the end of the year, we were joined by our special guests Roxana Hadadi, Kaleena Rivera, and Producer Seth to help us select our Best Shows of 2023 in that time-honored format of being forced to pick shows via a draft.

Some interpreted the prompt correctly! Others decided they would like to interpret every word differently, in an effort to sow chaos. But in the end, we definitely ended up with the following lists!

Seth:
Draft philosophy - maximum chaos, a.k.a. you never said they had to be television shows

Grey House on Broadway (1st overall pick)
Night 1 of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour (12th overall pick)
Sweden Women’s Soccer Team coming in Third Place (13th overall pick)

Tori:
Draft philosophy - wants to mess with Dustin, but ultimately too much integrity

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (2nd overall pick)
I’m A Virgo (11th overall pick)
Reservation Dogs (14th overall pick)

Kaleena:
Draft philosophy - taking the assignment seriously

Succession (3rd overall pick)
Somebody Somewhere (10th overall pick)
The Bear (15th overall pick)

Dan:
Draft philosophy - mostly watched competition shows this year

Physical: 100 (4th overall pick)
Every available version of The Traitors (9th overall pick)
Twisted Metal (16th overall pick)

Roxana:
Draft philosophy - top 10 already listed elsewhere, so this is #s 11-13

Copenhagen Cowboy (5th overall pick)
The Makanai: Cooking For The Maiko House (10th overall pick)
Lockwood & Co. (17th overall pick)

Dustin:
Draft philosophy - he’s Dustin

Shrinking (6th overall pick)
Mrs. Davis (7th overall pick)
Happy Valley (18th overall pick)

Who won the night? Whose list is the most absurd? Which of the many, many worthy shows should we have selected instead? And will anyone actually get through the entire way-too-long episode?

Hopefully, we’ll someday get some answers to these questions. But in the meantime, this is our last episode for 2023! We’ll be back in January, in your favorite podcast feed or right here on this very site!

Hope everyone has a great end of the year and we’ll see you in 2024!
