Who Gave Meghan McCain Permission To Go After Elon Musk?

I’m going to put my cards on the table here: My exact hope with that headline is that Meghan McCain somehow sees it and cries sexism because “no one ever asks a man who gave them permission to have an opinion.” Except here’s the thing: Meghan has a long and well-documented history of parroting her husband Ben Domenech’s viewpoints. She practically spent every episode of The View squawking The Federalist headlines into Joy Behar’s face at decibels so loud she’ll still hear them even in death.

But don’t take my word for it. Here’s Meghan’s own Twitter account, making it very clear why she recently started turning MAGA Kool-Aid into Jell-O shots down by the crick:

While Meghan was flogging her Never Trump bonafides that seemed pretty legit thanks to his routine trashing of her dad, Ben’s head never strayed far from Trump’s ass. So, it wasn’t entirely surprising when Meghan stuck her hoof in the air and saw where the political winds were blowing after the 2024 election. Sure, she built her entire career on screaming “MY FATHER IS JOHN MCCAIN” like some sort of nepo baby “HADOUKEN,” but how well did she really know the guy? Did you know he had another wife before Mom? Ewww.

Anyway, what is surprising is Meghan’s MAGA heel turn has already taken an odd swerve. While perusing her Twitter to see if America’s #1 Troop Lover had anything to say about Pete Hegseth sh**ting on Medal of Honor recipients and combat veterans — She sure didn’t! — I learned that Meghan has a Substack. In the latest installment, she offers sympathies to her friends on the left and helpful advice on how they can get through these times. The whole thing is as smug and smarmy as you expect, and I don’t recommend wasting even a nanosecond of your life reading it, but it does contain a notable passage on Elon Musk being a clear liability:

Yup, I know Elon is incredibly popular with the MAGA base. I also know he is incredibly popular with a lot of republicans. However, he is also a billionaire running around with a chainsaw at conventions, showing off tesla’s in front of the white house, and who was not part of the package deal on the republican ticket that anyone in the American voting electorate knowingly pulled the lever for. I certainly didn’t think he would be in the white house every day with President Trump. When you even have comedians like Tim Dillon roasting Elon in the White House, public sentiment isn’t all clearly on his side. One noble truth in politics you can bet your election on is that the American public does not like chaos or feeling like things in the White House are out of control. It is a huge reason Trump lost in 2020 and Biden in 2024, there was a feeling at both times that both men were not in control of the country. Elon to me is still quite the roll of the dice, and all of it has the possibility of backfiring.

I feel very confident in saying Meghan McCain did not fire that shot without getting an all-clear from her husband, who I would bet money received an all-clear of his own from inside Trumpworld. There is an increasing amount of blood in the water for Elon, and Meghan McCain sniping at him right after kissing Trump’s ring cannot be a coincidence.

Of course, this presupposes that anyone besides me gives a sh*t what Meghan McCain thinks, and oh God, this was a trap, wasn’t it? Somebody take an axe to the server!
