Tony Hinchcliffe Proved All of Chelsea Handler's Points

You would think The Roast of Kevin Hart would fade just as quickly into obscurity as his movies, and yet here we are two weeks later thanks to an internecine fight between Chelsea Handler and the two-headed bro-hydra of Tony Hinchcliffe and Shane Gillis.

Handler has not been shy about her thoughts on Hinchcliffe and Gillis’ jokes at the Netflix event. The two were reportedly told to be racist by the roast’s white writers, and Kevin Hart running interference for them seems to back up that claim. Still, that doesn’t mean they had to go there, and it doesn’t change Handler’s withering criticism of their careers.

“I knew they would be lazy, because they do that for a living,” she told the Funny Knowing You podcast (via THR). “It’s just everything we know. That they’re racist, that they’re bigots, that they’re sexist, that they think that they’re invincible.”

Well, here’s Tony Hinchcliffe proving her point. During the latest episode of his podcast, he fired back at Chandler, and this is the best he could come up with. Via Page Six:

“There’s news articles — ‘cause the news isn’t real, nothing is real — that say that I got lit up by Chelsea Handler, which is very, very funny because that’s not what happened at all,” Hinchcliffe said on Monday’s episode of his “Kill Tony” podcast. “You can’t believe anything you see or read on the news anymore. You have to actually watch the thing for yourself.”

“She was a bit of a c***, I’ll tell you that. She just kept coming at me,” he continued, adding that the writers of Hart’s roast “just didn’t do her any justice.”

Setting aside the “fake news” claims — which really says a whole lot here — Hinchcliffe’s big comeback is the c-word? That’s it? One of the supposedly best comics working today doesn’t have anything else in the tank? Ah well, I’m sure it was just an out-of-context moment, and he won’t keep sounding like a cheap extra from The Sopranos.

“Fun fact: the teleprompter only went down during my set and it gave me a lot of opportunity to remind Chelsea Handler what she looks like and where her life is because she had it coming.”

“When Chelsea kept coming at me, I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna f*** this b**** up,’” he added.

Let’s run through Chelsea’s accusations again:

Lazy. Check.
Racist. Check.
Sexist. Double check.
Think they’re invincible, which just fuels the above. Check.

So, how is she wrong here? Where’s the lie? Hinchcliffe’s ego wouldn’t let a woman get away with criticizing him, but all he did was prove her entire case. Is being clever not part of comedy anymore? Did I miss that memo?
