Considering Jenny McCarthy roped Jim Carrey into her quack crusade against vaccines, you’d just assume these two would be easy pickin’s for Tom Cruise. Not so much.
On the latest episode of her podcast, McCarthy claims that she and Carrey were basically getting the full Church of Xenu pitch during Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding. Inexplicably, the couple were seated at the same table as the bride and groom, and the vibe was obvious. However, McCarthy was already picking up on some… strangeness that jibes with stories others have told about Suri.
Via Page Six:
McCarthy recalled that during the dinner, a nanny brought the baby over to Holmes, prompting the self-described “baby person” to ask if she could hold her.She said the entire party turned to stare at her, adding, “It looked like ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ … I got the Scientology stare.”
After Holmes “slowly” passed Suri to her, McCarthy monotonously said, “Hi, baby,” before handing the infant back to her mom as “everyone went back to their conversations.”
“I just thought to myself, ‘OK, I am in the belly of the beast right now,’” she added.
Despite that awkwardness and McCarthy making a joke about David Miscavige being the best man, Cruise still tried to invite the couple to his home in Aspen. Ironically, Carrey clocked what was happening and didn’t go because it was clear Cruise was trying to “lure” them in. Getting honeypotted into the anti-vax movement is enough grifts for Ace Ventura, thank you very much.
As for why Jenny McCarthy is telling all of this now, well, not only has Scientology’s grip on Hollywood waned, but there’s blood in the water for Cruise now that Digger is a box office bomb. Plus, what damage could he do to Jenny McCarthy’s career that she hasn’t already done herself? Make her marry an even lesser Wahlberg? Is that a thing you can do? I’m seriously asking.
