Because time constantly chooses violence, The View is celebrating its 30th anniversary this season. Former hosts like Rosie O’Donnell have been confirming their guest spots to celebrate the major milestone, but you’ll never guess who won’t be getting an invite. I’ll give you a hint: Her father was that guy with the name.
To the surprise of no one, Meghan McCain’s tenure on The View is still an open wound, and there’s absolutely no desire to reunite with the Mayonnaise Mistress of Terror.
Multiple sources tell Page Six they’d prefer to keep McCain away. Several said they would “be shocked” if brass even extended an invite “given the way she treated people.”“She’s the most horrible, biggest pain in the a**,” they told us, referring to behavior on-camera and behind the scenes. One source claimed she once hurled an F bomb at the executive producer in front of their studio audience. “She’s a nut bag!” they added.
In yet another shocker, Meghan reportedly had a penchant for screaming her parentage into more than just Joy Behar’s skull. There was no escape from the sonic barrage of MY FATHER.
“Forget about how she treated her co-hosts,” a source told Page Six. “It’s less about that and more about how she treated the staff.” Another source added, “She would even scream across the stage, ‘Do you know who I am?’”
That’s our girl! Naturally, Meghan had a response ready to go thanks to Page Six reaching out for a comment before publishing, which was the professional and courteous thing to do. She had notes.
Via Twitter:
I am in the middle of trying to pack my 6th month old baby for a family trip and a page six reporter who has constantly harassed me personally for years is apparently attempting to write an article about my time at the view - which is now FIVE years ago in the past.As I have expressed explicitly, that was a very painful time in my life both personally and professionally. This addiction that both the show and gossip reporters have with harassing current and ex hosts continues to be insane. I truly wish that culture would change.
I ask only to be left alone and have no desire or plans to ever return to the show.
Like the ear-shattering squelching of John McCain’s name, Meghan is pulling from her tired and limited bag of tricks. She loves to proclaim that she’s over The View and that she hates when people bring it up. But you know who brings it up all the time on social media and her podcast? Meghan Anheuser-Busch McCain. (True story: I practically dig through the woman’s trash, and I couldn’t tell you her middle name if you put a gun to my head.)
Just this summer she fired potshots at her old stomping grounds after JD Vance got grilled into the sun by Whoopi Goldberg, and she once threatened to sue the show after Ana Navarro made a comment about people peddling on their last name without once saying Meghan. In fairness, it was obvious who Navarro meant, and even more so when Meghan confirmed it by becoming an IRL version of the “Is this play about us?” meme.
In a nutshell, if there’s one thing that Meghan McCain has dined out on as much as being the byproduct of a United States senator leaving his first wife for a wealthy beer heiress, it’s her time on The View. It’s all she has at this point.
