Meghan McCain: What if the Mitch McConnell Story Is Really About Me?

Let’s be real: The Mitch McConnell drama has been pretty hilarious. Republicans desperately want you to believe ol’ Mitch is benching doctors and nursers while taking 20 minute phone calls. Sane people are convinced he’s a vegetable after suffering a cardiac arrest that left him unconscious until paramedics arrived. The whole thing has been very weird, and outside of Mitch’s inner circle, no one knows what’s really going on. Is he alive, is he dead, has he joined his turtle brothers in the fight against Shredder? The American people deserve answers.

But did you ever stop to think how any of this is about Meghan McCain? Well, good news, she had that exact thought. After getting called out for a now-deleted joke about McConnell’s condition, Meghan took to Twitter to remind everyone that MY FATHER broke his brain years before Mitch started short-circuiting on live TV. Is this in any way relevant to the situation? Sadly, yes, and I’m not happy about it either. She couldn’t ask for better glomming conditions. They say her Jell-O shot intake grew three sizes that day.

“I also remember my family telling the world my dad’s Glioblastoma brain cancer diagnosis within 48 hours of our family finding out,” Meghan tweeted at a critic. “I regret poking fun at the joke the entire internet is making - I can understand as McConnell’s former staffer how hard it must be to see that.”

Here’s where things get interesting.

“I also have a lot of regrets almost a decade since my dad’s passing,” she added. “My family should have forced him to step down the second he was diagnosed. Which is why I’m now an advocate for age and term limits in politics. I also sincerely hope Senator McConnell is ok.”

Before you start thinking that Meghan’s regrets are based in any sort of civic responsibility, keep in mind that just last year she completely forgave Donald Trump for routinely pissing on her father’s grave because he sent her a nice Christmas card. The same father whose final senate vote infamously thwarted Trump’s attempt to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. So, it’s pretty telling that Meghan has pivoted from using her father’s name as a nepo baby sonic boom to openly saying her family should have stopped the crazy coot from protecting healthcare access for millions of Americans.

Meghan has always said conservatism runs in her blood. I just never thought I’d see the day when it overpowered the source of that blood. Then again, it’s not like John McCain is around to get her daytime TV gigs, amirite? What has he done for her lately?
