Let’s start with the good news: The chances of an Entourage revival just plummeted dramatically. If you take away anything from this article, let it be that ray of sunshine. My treat to you.
Moving on, Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier dropped an ad this week for Jake Paul’s new gambling platform. The entire thing is a blatant ripoff of Entourage, right down to Piven’s caustic patter, which like him, has not aged well. Truth be told, I couldn’t even make it halfway through this thing before I had to turn it off lest Axe Body Spray start shooting out of my ears. And I wasn’t the only who hated it.
Entourage creator Doug Ellin has been tearing the ad apart on social media, going so far to call the spot “trash and theft” on Twitter before ripping into Piven, specifically, on Instagram.

“I know there’s a lot of people out there who like to criticize us and tell us we weren’t great — we were, this wasn’t,” he said as he compared the quality of Entourage to that of the commercial. “It’s just embarrassing. A lot of times, people know, in Hollywood don’t give the writer the credit they deserve. And I’m not talking about me, I’m talking about all the people that worked on the show.”Ellin also seemed to take credit for Grenier and Piven’s career success, and accused the latter actor of trying to distance himself from the series after its conclusion. “We found these people. We cast these people,” he said. “I actually had to beg Piven to do the show, ‘cause he didn’t wanna do it. And he didn’t wanna talk about it afterwards, like he wanted to get away from it ‘cause he had so much better s—- going on.”
Ellin goes on to say that the “trash” ad made him “wanna throw up,” and he does have a point. This thing is hot garbage and painful to watch. No arguments there. Where he’s wrong is acting like it isn’t Entourage’s entire schtick. And I would know, I owned the DVDs. I was in my 20s during the aughts, so this show was catnip to morons like me until it collapsed into a parody of itself.
Everything that Piven does here is straight out of the Entourage playbook, and it’s as old and tired as his face. You can see for yourself below if you want to kill a few brain cells. Personally, I’d recommend other methods. I hear CTE is neat.
