People on ‘Entourage’ Were Jerks to Debi Mazar After She Gave Birth

I don’t have any male friends who are… catcallers. I’ll even go a step further and say I don’t hang out with anyone where the conversation turns to who we think is attractive, hot, or whatever. I’ve certainly met men like this, but I was usually quick to prune them from my social circle. Not only have I never understood the point of standing around and yelling “hachi machi” at female passersby, but talking about it with the other dudes I’m spending time with just… never made sense. So, no, I was not an Entourage fan.

I’ve seen one episode of Entourage because I was visiting home during “college” and was excited to have cable again, even for a month. I left HBO on, and there appeared Jeremy Piven and the crew, and I just didn’t feel like changing the channel. So, two of the dudes were trying to bed some models they had met because they had the same dog or something? But they had to take care of their dog? What I mainly remember was Matt Dillon’s brother saying, “If you wanna bust a nut on this one, you gotta EARN it,” to the guy who co-owns Fat Sal’s.

The whole endeavor was enough to make me wish I hadn’t turned on the TV, and it made it seem pretty clear that I had learned all I needed to learn about that show. A few years ago, the show’s creator, Doug Ellin, freaked out when someone wrote a joke article about updating the show for modern times, and that solidified what I thought. And it was not surprising in the slightest to hear that one of the show’s stars, Debi Mazar, wasn’t treated well for… being a human being.

“Season one was a joy-fest. But in the third season, the set was a testosterone-fueled environment,” the actress explained to The Times U.K. (via THR). “I’m tough, but it got toxic towards the end for me.” She went on to note that things got worse when Mazar got pregnant. “And I’d had my second baby, and they didn’t like that I got fat, even though I got skinny again. It was complicated because I’m outspoken and never held back my discontent,” she recalled. “But I always was professional, and I’m grateful I was on it. It was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t.”

Unsurprisingly, Ellin has rejected Mazar’s claims, calling them “disgusting,” and explaining that the only body stuff he demanded was that Adrian Grenier be more muscular and that the Fat Sal’s owner gain more weight; actually, Ellin feels really bad about the latter. It’s the exact kind of response you’d expect from the guy who created Entourage. He’s not beating the accusations in the slightest.
