I distinctly remember watching Chris Hemsworth on Hot Ones because it’s one of the more notable episodes where the show flips a switch from boring to “Dear God, this beautiful person is about to die.” Don’t get me wrong, they’re all boring after Conan brought the house down, but this one was like watching paint dry until Thor got absolutely destroyed.
In the episode that made it to YouTube, you can see Hemsworth going through it. The production team has to bring him ice cream, and he’s not doing great. Turns out, that was some very generous editing. While appearing on the latest episode of SmartLess, Hemsworth revealed that Hot Ones had to stop filming after he laid down on the floor.

“I was getting really cocky and kind of just more, more, more, more - and this one’s not so bad - and by the ninth or 10th one, it’s just a different game. They just stopped recording because I was about to throw up, and they got me ice cream and milk.”
If you’ve ever wondered what happens to guests after filming an episode, nothing good!
“We were all supposed to go out for dinner that night, and I hadn’t eaten all day,” Hemsworth recalled. “By the time I did the show, the first thing I put in my stomach was this bowl of hot sauce. Then I just went back to the hotel room and I sat there for the next 12 hours hugging the toilet bowl. I was just on the floor.”
What makes Hemsworth’s anecdote even more crazy is Lady Gaga was on the show not long after him, and no exaggeration, she was the Harlem Globetrotters of hot sauce consumption. She just sat there wearing an entire Michael’s aisle on her shoulder and barely broke a sweat. Even Matthew McConaughey got the vapors on his episode, and she’s just smiling away, loving every second. It’s damn near superhuman.
