It’s wild to think that Chris Hemsworth was a bit of an unknown when he joined the MCU. He was well-known enough in Australia that he was in their version of Dancing with the Stars all the way back in 2005, but American audiences were not familiar with this hunk, aside from his brief appearance in J.J. Abrams’ first Star Trek film. But Hemsworth made his impact as Thor, the God of Thunder… eventually. While he is certainly doing well in those initial films, it’s Hemsworth’s embrace of his comedic side that really made him shine.

Now, he’s a big ol’ star. So much so that you can market a show simply by asking, “Do you want to see Chris Hemsworth travel?” His profile has risen so much that he’s now insisting he will get another former X-Men actor back for Avengers: Secret Wars. Avengers: Doomsday is already jam-packed with actors who once played mutants in FOX’s X-Men films, but there were some notable absences. The one sticking in Hemsworth’s craw the most is Storm herself, Halle Berry.

We already know that Hollywood doesn’t give Berry enough respect, and her not being involved in the return of a team she helped make famous feels like more of that. In a joint interview for their upcoming film Crime 101, Hemsworth and Berry were asked about her exclusion from the film, with Hemsworth saying that he was “bummed” that she was not in it. I will say, he certainly seems that way! The two are real chummy during the clip, which is nice, and Hemsworth’s insistence that she be in the next film feels genuine.

When the interviewer suggested that Thor would be apprehensive toward Storm due to her having similar powers, Hemsworth explained that he thinks it would be the opposite, noting that Thor would see Storm as an equal (as he should). When Berry tries to say that the MCU does not need her, Hemsworth shuts it down. “Everyone wants you in it,” he says. “You’ve gotta come and just hang out with us. You’ve got to accept it. I’m inviting you.”

Look, this could just be two tired actors who like each other and are trying to make an often-punishing junket more enjoyable for themselves. Hemsworth may not have the sway to bring her on board, but he certainly has more than he did 15 years ago (jebus). I don’t think anyone would be complaining if Storm were to appear in Doomsday or Secret Wars. That said, they could just be covering for a cameo that is already in the works. All I know is that I’ve been a massive superhero kick lately, so I’m sucking up any of this kind of news with a straw.
