Animator Erik Wernquist created a short film showing humans exploring our solar system, using Carl Sagan’s recording of The Pale Blue Dot as a background.

Over at Sploid they have a full breakdown of the video along with descriptions of each location and how Wernquist created the concepts and images. The locations in the video range from earth tens of thousands of years ago to a completely artificial environment based inside an asteroid, most of the planets in our solar system, and a handful of moons as well. It’s a gorgeous piece of animation, and an amazingly ambitious vision of the future of humanity. It’s worth the four minutes it’ll take to watch it, I promise.
