Thanks to a random dude on the internet who happened to be walking by a Netflix filming location at the exact right moment, we have our first look at David Tennant’s Purple Man, the AKA Jessica Jones villain.

Hmmm…. first thought: I want that coat for myself, to wear every day. Second thought: He sure isn’t very purple, is he? The character of Kilgrave had a Harvey Dent-like experience with some chemicals that turned his hair and skin purple.

So is Tennant on his way to makeup, are they adding the hue digitally, or is he more of a metaphorical purple? I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the latter, maybe in an attempt to attract a wider audience. If this show is going for the gritty realism of, say, Daredevil, they may feel a purple-skinned man would detract from that, tonally. Either way, I think it’s clear what the real important question here is, right? And it’s blurry, so I have to ask you all to back me up on this…
