Earlier today, some big news was dropped on the world.
Every day counts. One night matters. The Unauthorized #FNLMusical is coming to LA in 2016! pic.twitter.com/95ktAow41g

Friday Night Lights the musical! Now, before you make those reasonable assumptions based on the word “unauthorized,” know that this is no Lifetime Channel Saved By the Bell crap. The show is the creation of a group called Sucker Love Productions, which has put on a couple of fantastic productions, like The Unauthorized Musical Parody Of Cruel Intentions and this staged reading of The Unauthorized O.C. Musical:

The FNL show will premiere in Los Angeles sometime in 2016, date and venue still TBA. (Though you can follow them on Twitter or on their website.)
It really does seem like they know what we want, doesn’t it?
The Unauthorized #FNLMusical comes with ALL OF THE FEELS. Promise. (And none of that Tyra/Landry murder plot.)

One piece of mega awesome news is that the musical will use songs from the show.
Much like #TheOCMusical before it, The Unauthorized #FNLMusical will feature songs from its five season run!

Which means only one thing, really. “Devil Town” or GTFO.
All of this sounds pretty cool, right? Well, there’s one more bit of news that blows everything else right out of the water, excitement-wise. The musical’s Coach Taylor has already been cast, and while I know we’d all love a Kyle Chandler/Connie Britton reunion, that was going to be unlikely. His successor, however, may be the next best (and much weirder) thing.
The player is now the coach… @nbcfnl's @ScottPorter is Coach Taylor in the Unauthorized #FNLMusical! pic.twitter.com/V0p5eLOUCo

Yes! In a crazy, meta move that has Inceptioned my brain, Jason Street is now Coach Taylor. That’s it, I’m starting my Mae Whitman for Tami Taylor campaign now.
