As of right now, No Time to Die is set to be released in November. While that could very well change, the marketing for Daniel Craig’s final Bond Film is full speed ahead. Just a little over a week after the latest trailer, MGM has released a behind the scenes video highlighting the movie’s main villain, Safin. He’s played by Oscar winner Rami Malek.
Safin is a terrorist with revenge on his mind and hideous scarring on his face. “What I really wanted from Safin was to make him unsettling,” says Malek, “thinking of himself as being heroic.” While Malek’s performance seems to get across the unsettling nature of the character, it is assisted by a sleek, white, featureless mask that he sports throughout much of the footage we’ve seen so far.
On the new villain, Director Cary Fukunaga says, “What he wants and what he is willing to do make him a very frightening character. Both personally to Bond but also on a global level.”
