Will Geena Davis be in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice? There was no sign of her or Alec Baldwin’s characters in the teaser trailer, and they’re not listed on the IMDb cast list. But what about a surprise cameo?

At last night’s CinemaCon 2024 Big Screen Achievement Awards, Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier straight-up asked Geena if she was in the film. The 68-year-old flashed her big movie star smile and replied, “No, I’m not. Oh, you were expecting that I would be? Yeah, no.” And her reason is pretty damn logical (remember, Geena Davis is in Mensa, which makes her an official smarty-pants). She explained that “ghosts don’t age.” Then, after a perfectly timed comic pause, she added, “Not that I have.”

Kevin Frazier didn’t miss a goddamn beat, and responded, “You look incredible, what are you talking- you’re crazy. You’re crazy! You look great.” Geena laughed, and replied, “No, but our characters were stuck the way they looked when they died, forever. So… it’s been a while. It’s been a minute!” Fair enough. Geena’s 68-years-old now, and she was 31 when she filmed Beetlejuice back in 1987.

But what about Betelguese? Michael Keaton was 35 when he starred as the demented bio-exorcist pervert, and now he’s 72. Do bio-exorcists age? Is Betelguese technically a ghost? And what happened to Geena and Alec’s ghosts? At the end of the original movie, they were living in harmony with the Deetz family and dancing to Harry Belafonte. Did the ghost couple eventually move on to a higher plane?

God, Alec Baldwin was hot. Too bad about his whole… personality.
