Four weeks into its release and Michael is going from strength to strength. It managed to leap from number three to the top spot, one month in, earning $26.1 million over the past weekend. Domestically, it’s earned over $282.7 million, and worldwide, it’s scared up $703 million. Pay no attention to the literally everything behind the curtain.
Things are also pretty solid for The Devil Wears Prada 2, which has over $175.8 million in the kitty in North America, and Its $546 million worldwide intake is enough to make it fifth highest-grossing movie of 2026 so far. Michael is number two. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie still reigns supreme, of course, with $964.1 million.
The relationship horror Obsession was the highest placed debut of the weekend, landing at number three with $16.1 million. That’s standard stuff for the genre: a big opening weekend and the budget is earned back. This one has been very well reviewed so it may do well in the long term thanks to word of mouth.
Top Gun turned 40, so why not enjoy a double bill in theatres with it and the sequel, Top Gun: Maverick? If any movie calls for a giant screen and the biggest popcorn bucket possible, it’s this one. The power of fast planes compelled audiences to a $3.1 million intake.
Look, I am a Guy Ritchie apologist and even I didn’t know about In the Grey. Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal are in this and I still didn’t know about it? I saw Aladdin for you, Guy! Clearly, I wasn’t alone, and it only earned $3 million.
The revenge movie Is God Is brought in $2,222,342, landing at number 10. Two spots behind that is Shrek, which just turned 25 because time means nothing anymore, with $1.25 million. Anime fans were treated to *deep breath* Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, which grossed $810,000 from 894 places. The political drama The Wizard of the Kremlin, which is sort of based on a true story and stars Jude Law as Vladimir Putin, grossed $483,390.
In limited release news: Forge, a dramedy starring Kelly Marie Tran, took in $27,000 from one theatre; and the romantic drama Magic Hour grossed $10,000 from one cinema.
This coming week sees the release of the comedy I Love Boosters, the horror Saccharine, and the newest Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu.
