Millie Bobby Brown is getting married! The Stranger Things mega-star is tying the knot with Jake Bongiovi, son of the New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi (raise your hand if, like me, you’re just now learning that his stage name is a play on his last name). Jake popped the question while the two were underwater. Brown was so excited that she dropped the ring into the deep blue sea, but it was eventually recovered. It was certainly memorable, and the actress wants the wedding to be the same, so she’s enlisting a co-star for help.
Brown plays Eleven on Stranger Things. She is a product of experiments gone wrong (or right, depending on which character you ask). In the show, she has found herself with two father figures. Hopper, played by David Harbour, is the local chief of police. He takes in Eleven to keep her safe from the people who experimented on her. Having lost a daughter before, he quickly forms a bond with the lost young girl. Despite their connection on and off-screen, Harbour won’t be helping his onscreen surrogate daughter tie the knot.
Matthew Modine plays Dr. Martin Brenner on Stranger Things. He is one of the main antagonists and is responsible for the troubled life Eleven has had to live. His relationship with her is abusive and manipulative. The character is a menace to Eleven and all the people in the town of Hawkins. The actor may not be friendly onscreen, but he will be ditching his menacing persona when he officiates Brown and Bongiovi’s wedding!
While speaking to Access Online, Modine told the hosts the big news. “I have one of those licenses to get people married and Millie thought it’d be great and then Jake said it would be a great idea,” the seasoned actor said. “So I wrote the wedding vows and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife.” The actor could not be more excited, saying, “It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.”
I’ve officiated four weddings and it is always a joyous occasion. I don’t blame Modine for being so excited. Love is great!
