Olivia Rodrigo Recreated Nicole Kidman's AMC Commercial

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t saluted Nicole Kidman’s pre-movie commercial that plays at AMC theaters. I love going to the movies. There was a time when I thought I might never go again. Instead, the world opened back up (for better and for worse) and I have been able to sit in a room with strangers and share the same experience. It is magical, and it looks like Olivia Rodrigo agrees.

Rodrigo, the child actor turned rock star is currently on tour performing her newest album GUTS (which totes slaps btdubs, and I don’t mean that as a joke). Even if you haven’t heard her music, you may have heard her team was distributing emergency contraceptives at her shows. That is until a bunch of losers complained. Rodrigo is rad, and she solidified that by recreating Kidman’s magnum opus on TikTok.

The rocker was recorded before a concert, treating the empty arena like a movie theater. She walks through the aisles, marvels at the majesty of the venue, and munches on a jumbo-sized bag of popcorn. The video is equal parts theater kid energy and someone having a blast. It’s infectious even if you aren’t someone who has to stop themselves from standing up in their seat whenever Nicole Kidman reminds them of the magic of the movies.

Even Kidman agrees that Rodrigo knocked it out of the park (and made her look cool to her kids). The legendary actor took to Instagram to praise the young rocker. “You just won me some major points with my girls! Adore you @oliviarodrigo xx.”
