Jennifer Garner Has Entered the Ben Affleck & JLo Thunderdome of Divorce

Jennifer Garner should be getting ready to bask in her appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine, but instead, she’s cleaning up one Ben Affleck’s messes. Again. Who’s ready to muck around in some people’s lives? Whee!

For the blissfully unaware, Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are absolutely radioactive with divorce rumors as she continues to make solo red carpet appearances and “sources” prep media outlets for a big split. Case in point, Garner’s team has now entered the mix with a seemingly obligatory quote to PEOPLE that reads as diplomatic, but with a dash of, “Well, sh*t, he’s the father of my kids, so I guess I have to side with the idiot if this thing goes south. Goddammit.”

A source tells PEOPLE that Garner “wants the best for” ex-husband Affleck.

“She wants him happy and healthy so he can be the best dad possible,” says the source. Garner, 52, and Affleck share three kids: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

The source adds that Garner, who is dating chairman and CEO of Cali Group John Miller, “likes that [Lopez] lives a healthy lifestyle and supports Ben’s sobriety. Jen wants that for Ben.”

Can we just take a minute to appreciate the fact that PEOPLE clearly had instructions to note that Jennifer Garner is seeing somebody, so do not bring any “getting back together” nonsense to her front door, please, and thank you. The poor woman already had to deal with millions of headlines about Ben reuniting with the true love of his life and look how that turned out. On top of that, this whole ordeal is starting to splash back on the kids, which has to be super awesome behind the scenes.

Around the same time that the Garner source talked to PEOPLE, Page Six reported that Lopez did not attend Violet Affleck’s graduation party over the Memorial Day weekend. It’s one of the most pivotal moments in Violet’s young life, and it’s all just grist for the Affleck/JLo divorce mill. They’re Barron Trump-ing the poor kid! C’mon.
