Twitter is a venue for fierce debate of ideas big and small. There, the masses can convene to weigh in on everything from politics to faux pas, food, and fashion. That brings us to a quandary posed by concept artist/illustrator Yoshi Yoshitani.
How do we feel about these shoes?
I’m vacillating wildly between loving and hating these pic.twitter.com/iWF8ox2w5O

These curious contraptions look like a cross between a high heel and two pairs of sneakers, yet they are the DSQUARED2 Sandals. They come from the brand’s spring 2019 collection and were inspired by “retro athletic wear.” Obviously. Now, several seasons past their prime, these strange sandals that once retailed for $750 are on “special price” for a mere $487. But buying them isn’t even the question.
Are they ugly? Are they awesome?
Twitter users had thoughts.
It’s a shoe that exists in multiple dimensions simultaneously

For some reason they remind me of strap on skates I had as a kid in the 90s pic.twitter.com/GZnpIiTLXH

Yoshi, @thisisleah says it's like these 2 shoes had a baby, gave it up for adoption and then Steve Madden adopted it pic.twitter.com/Cvh5V7S3Tg

I love them in theory but if I saw anyone wearing them I'd die instantly from secondhand embarrassment

I HATE them, except the more I look the more they remind me of Gundam despite having nothing to do with it and now I don’t know what I’m feeling anymore. Why do I want to try them on!?

This is… stunning, and I’m fearful of the strength wielded by the one who has vibes powerful enough to wear them

Omg these look like a transition shot in animation 😂 between stepping on gum, and lifting your foot. I hate them, yet I would 100% wear them ðŸ‘

It makes me, like viscerally uncomfortable to look at. It's like… a cronenberg shoe.

So. You’ve seen. You’ve considered. How do we feel about these shoes?
